Does having no boyfriend means you're emotionless?

One of my colleagues asked me today whether I have any boyfriend or not. I replied no. Hearing that she said, how could I have no relationship till date. She indirectly told me that people having partners have more emotions. To me, she is wrong saying so. I love my family. I become very emotional whenever they face any problem. Do you think being single means emotionless?

What nonsense! The next time someone tells you something like that tell them to mind their own business.

Aw..that is not done here. Here if she does that, she will become outcast.

@vandana7 You must be able to give her the best piece of advice as you know your society. Your comment shows me (again) that asking for advice on an international site is complete nonsense. What is accepted in one society makes you a leper in another.

@MALUSE That is the problem. The social life here is a major source of agony. Not everywhere, but in almost 70 to 80 percent cases you will come across people who want to decide how you have to live. If you do not conform to their views, you are treated as a specimen, laughed at behind your back. Funny thing? If she has a boyfriend, she will be spoken of as "cheap", "uncultured", and what not. If she does not have one, she will still be spoken of as "lesbian", or "heartless". So it is just jealousies at work.

When I was single I was not emotionless at all. Quite the contrary actually.

@deba12 It could well be that they donĀ“t have the emotion or the what it takes in them. You will find someone for sure no worries about that. You are not emotionless far from it.

I m just like you. What, if my relationship with boys doesn't go good? May be, they don't have the emotion.

It pretty much depends upon situations and circumstances I suppose. If you have problems, your time could be used solving them rather than go towards romantic thoughts. It does not mean that such a person is less emotional. When problems are resolved, may be such person's true ability to care will surface. Each one has different level of caring at different point of time. So don't worry. All is well.

Thanks for supporting me. The society is changing. I believe that one day will come when people will be allowed to live the way they want.

Of course not. Just because you're not in a relationship now it doesn't mean you won't have one later or that you don't feel things.

@deba12 Well don't let them. You should believe you're as good as anyone else.

I am, in fact, emotional about others. Many people make a fool of me just because of this.

You're young now. At my age, I hope you too will have a girlfriend. And, if you won't have, I will be there.

Of course it's not right to say so. Some people are single just because they don't meet the right person.

That is silly. It is really none of their business anyway, what nerve! Tell them you are waiting for the right person.

@deba12 I don't understand how they could meddle in your affairs like that.

@deba12 I believe you friend if she is in a relationship is talking for herself. I was married and divorced and I feel like I can do what I want and not have anyone telling me when to get or when to go to bed. I decide for myself what I want to do or not do. I believe it depends on the person how they feel about things and has nothing to do with having a person if your life or not.

Not at all. To me being single only means that you are single. Everyone is single at one point and that doesn't mean they suddenly have no emotions

That's what I wanted to tell her. To me, my family is important now. Isn't that mean that I am caring towards them? There are few people who are just interested in hurting others.

No. Being single means that you are a complete person and capable of loving. It also means that you are waiting for the right one to give your heart to.

To say honestly, I am not waiting for anyone. But, if someone can win over me, I will welcome him in my life.

Absolutely not! I think being single offers you the opportunity to expand your emotions. Extend them to all you meet. Share a smile with your neighbors and with total strangers without being judged a flirt. Being single gives you more space to discover yourself and be all that you came here to be. Not being tied down in love to one person or having an identity crises because you lost yourself in your dependency upon another is the greatest benefit of being single. Once you fully discover yourself and live your example, the whole world will notice. Embrace your time as a single person and learn to love yourself first. :-)
