***Warning! Political Rant*** . . . As a native Californian I can sense the political tension in the air sizzling its' way slowly throughout the state. People have had enough of the state government doing things that are against the peoples will and as some would say common sense. Cities fighting back against the states sanctuary status. Petitions being circulated to repeal the 12¢ gasonline tax, 20¢ tax on diesel, and a sales tax that went from 9% to 13%. Military patrol of the southern border. Grass roots movement looking into splitting California into two or more states. A sanctuary city is basically the same as if you were to harbor a criminal in your home and refuse the proper law agency to do their job and detain the criminal. Try calling your house a "sanctuary home" one of these days. None of The taxes were ever voted on by the people. Hopefully they'll have enough signatures to have it on the ballot this November to let the people vote if they want to be taxed or not, which is how it shouldve been in the first place. Military, actually the National Guard, is going to be deployed through out along the U.S./Mexico border. People are freaking out a little thinking that there will be tanks and rockets pointed at Mexico. Nope, they are just going to be there to assist with surveillance. It won't be the first time its been done. Theres even a movement going on to split California into either two or five states. I don't see this happening, Democrats won't want to lose the popular national election votes. Besides, the Constitution makes it a bit difficult to either opt out or split from an existing state. It would need a majority of support from congress just to get started. Yup, theres lots going on in the state that many may or may not know about. Whether you're a Californian or not, the end results here will have a ripple effect throughout the rest of the union. The Californian political earthquake may become a major tremor or just a little whimper. GIF- Taken/Owned by me, Plethos

I know about your "Sanctuary Cities", I was pretty surprise they can exist. I am curious to see what will happen here.

people are fighting back. i think those in favor of sanctuary cities are surprised that its not just one race protesting, its everybody! they probably feel the movement backfired because its uniting people of many different backgrounds for a common cause.

I am also a native Californian and understand what you are saying. We were once the Golden State and now a laughingstock hated by both liberal and conservative rest of the county.

Its an added cost, it will eat money from other programs that are supposed to help state and legal citizens.

I think five states would be too many. Perhaps three, and one could be given to Mexico.

@Plethos Oh, then nevermind. Mexico is not as kind to illegas as California is. Two states then - the elitists in one, and the other for normal people. You're right that the National Guard has been used to help patrol the border in the past, and putting the military on the border has been put forth by many previous presidents, but the media only loses its mind when Trump does something. I wonder if they ever stop to think what it is that he is doing, or if they just report everything he does as evil because they have lost the ability to think? Some of it might be wrong, some might be right, some might be "wait and see". It would certainly help the country if everyone could just take a breath and choose the third option every now and again.

@Rollo1 - i dont think the press realizes that the more they hate on him, the more his fan base of supporters get behind him.

California sounds like the UK ... once powerful and loved by everybody, now just a laughing stock of bad decisions. Welcome to the club!
