It was a sad and tragic day. A junior hockey team in Canada lost 14 of its members in a horrific bus crash and another 14 were injured. The bus was in Saskatchewan carrying 28 team members that included the driver and coaches on Friday. The Humboldt Broncos were on their way to a semi-final game in another part of the province when the crash occurred. A semi-trailer collided with the bus. The team is made up of 24 players from Western Canada between the ages of 16 and 21. This is close to my heart as a former co-worker and friend of mine had a son who played in a similar team when he was a junior and she always talked about travelling to see him play and about the games My heart and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased and for the injured players.

I'm currently watching the Lightning vs. Hurricanes game, and they have been talking a lot about the tragic accident. My heart goes out to the families of all those players who were injured or killed.

@moffittjc Sorry your team lost. If I name any other team as my favourite I will be tarred and feathered - the Winnipeg Jets it is. But seriously been a fan forever and happy to see they we're doing so good this year. We had a game as well last night and they wore the name of the Humboldt Broncos on their jerseys in tribute. They played the Chicago Blackhawks. My team won but as you said, there was little joy there either way.

@Freelanzer Well, my team lost last night, but that's okay, they're still in the playoffs. But even the joy of a win would have been overshadowed by the tragic accident. Who's your favorite hockey team? I may have asked you this before, but I can't remember. Mine is the Tampa Bay Lightning.

@Freelanzer Yes, so sad. I wonder what it does to their league's schedule. Obviously, this team won't be playing again this season, but what about the other teams they were scheduled to play against.

@BarBaraPrz That is a good question. It takes several years to build those teams so its long road ahead
