During this past hour at the computer I've been dizzy on and off. Do you think maybe it's time for me to retire for the night? I hope that will work. The doctor says this dizziness isn't related to the heart problem. He doesn't know why I sometimes get dizzy when I'm sitting down. Usually I'm at the computer when this happens. It's late, so I will go to bed after I post this, but it often happens in the afternoon. I just can't figure it out. The doctor says I won't pass out, even though I feel like I might. Sometimes I feel better when I stand up. Have you heard of this before?

Maybe you spend a bit too much time at the computer and your eyes get tired but really I'm only guessing. I think as you get older funny things happen. I can get dizzy if I sit or stand up too quickly but I think that happens to a lot of people.

I think that's temporary low blood pressure. That can happen to me, too, under similar circumstances. This is a bit different than that. I can be sitting here in front of the computer without moving more than my hands or arms for at least a few minutes, and suddenly I feel very woozy. The world doesn't spin, but I fear I will faint if I stand up. I don't faint, and after a while the feeling passes and I'm OK. Maybe my body is reaching its expiration date, or at least it's "best by" date.

@JudyEv Yes, but none that seem really major. Time will tell. Mostly mine are inconveniences.

@bagarad That IS different. You seem to be having a few health problems at the moment.

Everyone knows about the different time zones. Yet, it's always funny to hear about them. You're going to bed now? In Central Europe, it's 11 a.m. on April 8th. The Aussies may already be in bed again. :-)

That's what I like about this site. Someone is usually awake whenever I'm here.

I do too but not sure why unless it is still from the anemia ... doctors have no reason for you?

@bagarad Mine I think is still anemia related.

@bagarad Did it say if it is a short time symptom or something that goes away as your body adjusts to the medication?

I did read anemia can cause it, but I don't have that. I think it may be medications.

No I haven't. Maybe it has something to do with your eyes in some odd way.

I recently had an eye exam that didn't uncover any problems.

@HazySue I'm pretty sure now it's a side effect of the heart medications I take to keep the palpitations under control.

@bagarad I hope they find what is causing this dizziness.

Could it be vertigo? You might want to take a day or two away from the computer and/or television and see if it persists.

After reading up on vertigo, I don't think that's what it is. It just may be my medications.

@Starmaiden I wear glasses only for distance. I have had cataract surgery and my eyes are set to nearsighted, like my natural eyes were. I do more reading and computer work than work when I need to see far away, like when I'm driving.

@bagarad Do you wear glasses? If not you may need them while on the computer.

That's why I went to bed. I really should have done that anyway earlier. But you know how it is when you start myLotting.

I don't think that your dizziness has anything to do with spending time on the computer. I feel "light headed" no matter what I do. Are you on blood pressure pills?

I'm on Metoprolol, and since October the doctors have been trying to get my dosage adjusted properly again to prevent my heart palpitations. I went to bed around 2AM last night. Before I could fall asleep I got a case of palpitations that lasted until 6AM. When that happens, I'm supposed to take a bit more Metoprolol (12.5 mg). My regular doses now add up to 75 mg. I'm not always light-headed. It happens periodically, almost always when I'm sitting.

That sounds to me like an inner-ear problem (of course I'm no doctor.) Sometimes I get vertigo when seeing things scroll on a screen.

I've been reading up on vertigo, and I think I have straight dizziness without vertigo. Might be from low blood pressure with all that high blood pressure medication I take to prevent the palpitations.

I try to be in bed by around 10:30 PM. I'm not responsible for what I might say or do after that...I'm really not that alert.

@Morleyhunt I did that when I was working. I'm glad I've left that life behind. I enjoyed the work, but not the commute than made me get up so early.

I did that, and went to bed like a good girl. An hour later I got a case of heart palpitations that lasted until 6AM. Needless to say, I'm not at my best today. I only got about four hours of sleep. Think I'll wait until tomorrow to work on taxes again.

It isn't fun. Last night I had let myself get pretty tired, but I'm not always tired when it happens. I hope I can figure it out soon.

My cardiologist has not given any advice about this dizziness. He just says it's not related to my heart. After taxes are done I'll need to see my internist again.

That's easier said than done. Even after I went to bed last night I got heart palpitations that were worse than the dizziness and they lasted three hours in spite of all I did to try to stop them. Hard to sleep when that's happening. I finally got to sleep about 6.
