I never do this but it was already late yesterday and all the chemist where shut down so just had it. It was one of the worst decisions I ever made, took some tablets without the doctors prescription. I was feeling feverish and took a table "Cetirizine" which was suggested by a friend, at first everything seemed going well. But this morning just could not get out of bed the tablet had some effects which made me feel drowsy and dizzy the whole day. I just could not make even to my office because of that and now sleeping the whole day has kept me awake even now at 3.00 Am midnight. If you guys do take medicines on your own please don't things could turn worst then they actually are.

@db20747 Yeah painkillers only disable the senses, they actually dont benefit you in anyways. I had read somewhere that pain is a signal that your brain sends to the particular part of the body to make us aware that it needs attention just like alarm system. And painkillers disable the signal but the injury or infection keeps on worsening in the background just like it did with your friend. How is she did she make a better recovery later?

I never take unknown medications. It's dangerous. I'm glad you're only drowsy and a bit dizzy. It could have been a lot worse.

Never take someone else's prescription medicine! My silly neighbors apparently do this . . . one neighbor doesn't like to take her pain meds, so she "donates" them to another neighbor's mother because she is elderly and has bad knee pains . . . foolish, I think - I would never take them or give them away like that!

I do not know why he suggested Cetrizine, this is a potent antihistamine used in the treatment of hay fever, not common fever. The side effects of antihistamine are well known. I never take medicines suggested by friends.

Yeahh probably not the best idea to take medication that is not prescribed to you. It is best to keep around over the counter medications like ibuprofen and such. Especially if you don't know all what that medications can do to you. That is very dangerous.
