After the Party

Didn't want to go to any party, but I had no choice re: the latest re-union since those friends did me a favor a decade or so ago when I visited them in their country. I looked a mess back then after 5 weeks travelling so this time, I wanted to rectify the bad image I had presented them the last time . I was anxious about the outing, too anxious that I ended up working in the garden the whole day yesterday: weeding, moving plants around in the gardens to better locations. (Tasks which I had thought of but had no intention to do anything about it .) The weather was nice. The group that I finally met, some of them I had last seen 4 decades ago. The food was just OK in that restaurant, but we did have a good time with each other. (I turnd up in a Jackie Kennedy dress, quite OK .) I woke up this morning with a horrible migraine, fancy that! (I had consume no alcohol whatsoever yesterday.) Guess it was a result from being over anxious re: yesterday party. Perhaps I am a bit party phobia (Convivophobia?). Do you enjoy going to parties or gatherings?

I am glad you enjoyed the party. I avoid parties as much as I can, it's not a real phobia, but I feel uncomfortable where there are too many people.

I was anxious partly because of that. The restaurant we were at, turned out to be not crowded, so I was OK.

@YrNemo I do not like crowded places and the noise gives me headaches.

That after headache was definitely due to anxiety the day before. I too would be anxious about seeing friends I had last met decades ago. Next time - instead of working in the garden - pamper yourself and relax.

I had tried to sleep, but couldn't. It was just so awful thinking of just getting out of the house to go to any restaurant. Weird, I have never had any problem whatsoever going to work .

@Kandae11 I am too old now to do things which I don't care for... Life is short (for me) these days.

Maybe you lack sleep because you went home late already and woke up early that is why you had a horrible migraine? Yes, I love going to parties and gatherings of friends. I love it that almost everybody would take pictures so I don't have to take pictures anymore. I just look at them at fb. They just tag me.

There are a few pic taken too, but I haven't been sent a copy yet. (I was a bit uncomfortable at the time.)

I don't enjoy big gatherings much and even less so since I have a bit a trouble hearing now when there is a lot of background noise.

@YrNemo It does spoil your enjoyment if you can't hear what people are saying to you. It's embarrassing for starters.

Ouch! An acquaintance of mine has that problem. She doesn't like the crowds either.

My younger relatives like to go out, even if it is just to go to the doctor. Funny right?

I always have anxiety before going out to do anything. That stinks that the food wasn't as good as you were expecting but it's good you had a nice time visiting with them after not seeing them for so long!

No, I feel suffocated, I always feel that I need to become someone better. Ever time I go to a family party they always boast with their success. Hehehehhe and some of my relative don't have a nice attitude that is why I hate it.

Some family gatherings are worse than parties with friends or strangers. (I know what you mean there.)

The thought of going to any gathering always makes me feel a bit anxious. Guess I am too happy with my own place .

I love to go to parties with friends. But, my family is bit conservative. So, I rarely get the chance.

Guess I am over the hill these days, hence my reluctance with those activities which I don't care for. I don't mind however if friends or family members come visiting me suddenly.
