Do you use a lot of seasoning on your food or not much at all?

Whenever I go out to dinner I am always amazed to see how much some people season their food before even tasting it. How do they know it needs anything to begin with.
I think it makes sense to taste the food first and then if it needs something I will put it on. What happens if they season it with a lot of different spices and it is already covered with other spices?
I usually use some salt and pepper if it needs anything. I do not over do it with salt as I always try and cut out as much salt as possible.

I don't like a lot of salt as I know it can raise blood pressure. If I am cooking for someone I season it only very lightly as I think people can add their own salt and pepper if I haven't added enough for them.

@ramapo17 There's nothing worse than a meal which has too much salt. It completely ruins the flavour.

@sprite1950 You are right and I really cannot enjoy it if I do eat it.

A very cool question to ask since I do. I like using paprika one of my favorite spices on hamburgers, chicken and fish. It really adds flavor. Another spice I enjoy is oregano. Good for burgers and pizza and pasta. Sometimes I will use a bit of lemon pepper on certain food items.

I only use green chillies and lemon for seasoning. I don't use any other spice once the food is prepared. If there is no salt in food i replace it with a mix of lemon juice and green chilies. It also gives me good taste even in non spicy foods.

In India we mostly have dishes which are already spicy and with additives like butter added to them! So basically I never felt that should season my food before tasting it! Some times we may need to add some salt which is only the thing I do as seasoning that too if I really feel like having it! Thanks @ramapo17 !

I used mainly salt, sometimes with pepper, sometimes with other seasoning stuff, (depends on the dish). Have to admit, I used to be more careful with tasting and seasoning foods when I was younger & had more time. These days, I did everything almost like a robot.

I don't use a lot of seasoning on my food. I've heard that it isn't good for the body.

Usually if I am in a restaurant I expect that my food is appropriately seasoned. If not I might add a little something. But it is actually rare. As for at home cooking I have staple seasonings for whatever dish I am making. I generally know how something is going to taste.
