She lied down in that corner, eyes closed, looking weary, ready to go. Her beautiful tan youthful skin of last week, was now wrinkled and dry, peppered with dirt and disgusting moldy patches. If not for those ugly dark furry areas, she would have reminded me of a dry prune.
After having a quick warm bath, her condition seemed to deteriorate faster afterward.
We thought of freezing her body temporarily until we could decide the next step, but in the end, I successfully persuaded my housemates to let her join her relatives in that peaceful final resting place, close to the beautiful iceberg rose standard which cheerfully blooms throughout the year.
To mark her final resting place, an elegant bamboo piece of an old wind chime was used. If anyone listens carefully, they might hear the roses close by whispering to the gentle wind, 'shh... Let the old ginger sleeps...'
---
NB. I have never planted ginger before in my life, do you think that old dry piece of ginger will grow into something? I saw a tiny (but very chubby) eye bud in that piece.

Ginger is a root, right? Who knows, maybe it could. I hope so.
If it doesn't, you still had an experience, which doesn't sound too bad.

@YrNemo If I'm not sure about how to do something correctly there is a YouTube video for everything.

Since the time one of the members here mentioned her beautiful white ginger flowers back in the Philippines, I have dreamed of planting white ginger. Alas, I think that wish won't be fulfilled due to its rarity here, plus not appropriate weather. However, let see if the ordinary ginger will survive or not. I read it somewhere that in some regions, boys courted girls with ginger flowers. Sounds funny!

So much ado all for that ginger. On a serious note ginger needs very little caring.

@allknowing Does ginger like cold weather? We will have very cold weather soon, close to snow condition.

@jaboUK so true... Problem is, I live such a busy life, that I can't remember if she told me sometimes ago if her mother had passed away. (or was that from another friend's mother who had passed away? I remember vaguely a bunch of friends or acquaintances with parents gone recenlty, but which one was which ...)

I am glad you really see the humor in that wrinkled old old ginger! It really made me think of the mother of one of my friends, she was in her 90s or something several years ago. I can't even remember if she is still alive or already passed away. If I asked my friend, it sounded cruel somehow. I know, I will ask her next time, 'How is your mom?' and see what she says...

I've never planted ginger either. Who knows? Maybe she'll reincarnate. Time will tell.

Hope the tiny thorns will respect your tender skin. (I had some fights in the past with cacti, I lost! Hurt like crazy!)

Cactus grow easily I heard. Regardless, I lost a few! (I am too cold-hearted I guess .)
