Pithecellobium dulce is its name..My dad likes to eat this so much, but i rarely eat this it's very sweet.I particularly dont like its smell. As this is seasonal we have bought some.
It contains black shiny edible pulp and the seed pops contain a sweet and sour pulp..
It's pulp is used for gum alignment and for toothache..
Have you seen this ?.do you like to eat this?

@hereandthere camachile is a fruit tree .. I saw raws of camachile tree on the highway going to Pangasinan .. The fruit have a distinct taste . a bit like acidic and bitter but also sweet when ripe .. I hope it's not one of the fruits that are going to be forgotten.. and I definitely hope that those camachile trees were not amongst the thousands of trees that were cut down to give way to the road widening project ..

Dear @Icydoll...the pulpy covering bis whitish to reddish if ripened and the seed is black! That tastes great! there are variants in it....some are sour and some are sweet...I am sure you have never tasted the sweeter ones...or otherwise I am sure you wouldn't have expressed your opinion about these fruits like this here! Sorry I may be wrong! Thanks!

It looks like some kind of a vegetable, I think we have something similar called "ice cream beans", who knows, maybe it's a relative of the pithecellobium dulce. It is called Inga Edulis.
Ummm...I personally have never eaten any of them, I like picking up fruit from trees though, and we have some berries around to pick up soon.
Can you please describe the taste and the health benefits of it ?

Maybe I will look for that in my country.

pulp and bark is used against gum ailments, toothache, and hemorrhages.A bark extract is also used against dysentery, chronic diarrhea, and tuberculosis. An extract of the leaves is used for gall ailments and to prevent miscarriage. The ground seed is used to clean ulcers..
It's taste is sweet and sour..I don't know exactly if it ice cream beans or not .but they look similar to ice-cream beans,I think these are from the same family fabaceace.
