I notice that this had been trendy these days, especially from those people who instagram their food. I know food colors in pink, purple, rainbow, galaxy and neon and etc. are highly accepted in desserts and candies but I notice that people are now using food coloring in savory foods like Pizza, bagels, burger, Mac and cheese, grilled cheese, fried chicken and foods that are on the savory spectrum. Blue Ketchup are also now sold in some stores. I want to know what are people's opinion with rainbow food , Galaxy, and Unicorn food.

@nela13 What do you think of Blue berry pasta, Its pasta colored naturally by blue berries. Its purple in color. the pasta dont taste sweet and sour. They tasted like regular pasta because the flour killed off the blue berry flavor. There us also a spinach pasta, it is green because of spinach.

I tried one before, made of green tomatoes. I never looked at it while eating because it is not visually appealing.

The one in the corner is a bagel, right?it's pretty.I don't necessarily think colored non-sweet items are gross, but deceptive.

Yeah you would think they are sweet but they are not, since they are for savory purposes.

I wont mind weird colors of pasta if that is the sauce's natural color. Like you said spinach is green. bottled petroleum based colors though is a no for me.

@LadyDuck Blue rice is popular in Malaysia, it tasted like regular rice. It is blue because of Butterfly pea flowers.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I agree with what you are writing, I like natural colors, but I do not want artificial colors in my food. When I make a saffron risotto it is bright yellow, but it's the natural color of the saffron.

I use some food coloring in foods to make things a little more festive and fun for different holidays! It doesn't hurt if you are careful in the TYPE of coloring you are using. Some are healthy and okay and others are like ....just not!

@Daelii I avoid chemicals as much as I can, I stopped cooking in aluminum pots and pans too. I cook in clay and glass cookware.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I'm still experimenting with making my own colors from food. I found a plant based kit / no chemicals that was awesome! Except I'm almost out and never saved original box. It was a closeout special that I couldn't pass up! :(
