What In The World ?

I'm not allowed to say whose leg this is, but they agreed to let me post this photograph here in hopes that someone might know what is on their leg. They went to the doctor this morning and their doctor is clueless. He prescribed a cream and said if it didn't go away to come back. He didn't think that it was contagious, parasites of any sort or from an animal or plant. They say that it itches ferociously and is on both legs on the calves only. It first appeared three weeks ago and gradually got worse. Have any of you ever seen anything like this ?

I have been looking at images of rashes now for a few minutes. Nothing looks identical, but this person should be referred to a dermatologist, in my opinion. Tests need to be done because if it is scabies everyone in the house should be treated as well as furnishings.

I agree. The owner of said legs should go to a dermatologist. I know it's been said that it's not scabies, but it does look concerning.

I think that a dermatologist is a very good idea.

I went on my detective trail. . . scabies is one type of mange. Humans can get mange. Images I saw of scabies do not look like this, but look like blisters or pimples. However these could be old and drying out.

It looks to be scratched up with scabs where their nails tore the skin @GardenGerty it might have been bumps originally.

@rebelann That would do it. It could also be some animal bite and an allergic reaction. I thought I had remembered scabies was mange, but I had to do my little search and discover thing to make sure.

Not familiar but it does look like some sort of allergy to a plant rash. Have they been anywhere near wild plants like nettles.

I'm still not a medical doctor, but that needs the attention of a specialist-now!

@Tampa_girl7 Okay. Then I would go with using the following oils. Tea Tree, Rosemary, Clove or Neem Oil.

It looks like a dermatitis or a rush caused by an allergy to something. I cannot believe the doctor is clueless. Did the doctor perform a test to be 100% it's not a parasite?

@Tampa_girl7 I think the person needs to see a dermatologist, a generic doctor is not the right person.

@Tampa_girl7 I had a rash, similar to that on my hips (I thought, bug bites....but when where...) Eventually I remember I had bought new pyjamas and wore them without pre washing.... Lesson learned...always pre wash!

If the doctor did not have a clue what it was he should have referred who evers leg it is to a dermatologist. Quite clearly it is quite itchy as whoever it belongs to has been scratching it. I hope he gave an antihistamine and some steroid cream to help clear it up! It does not look infected yet. It could be a number of things!

Whatever it is, it looks awful and looks like it might have come with the dress the person wore, probably a group of tiny insects. I'd treat it with homeopathy.
