I think it does actually and I have experienced that as well. As you must have seen many master piece Discussions which were posted very well with picture and other required information, and it won't yield much responds whereas if a popular member just post a two line discussion which is just a casual one and it may become a top rated discussion. Lol. What are your views about it? Do you believe popularity plays an important role on mylot? Please share.

Popularity, right time, daily activity, how a discussion can easily trigger responses. And how the responses can easily trigger comments, in case of Hot Discussions, as it keeps in account both responses and comments a discussion receives. Many factors, but popularity is likely to be one.

Well the only way to gain that popularity is really how much effort you put into content. It all depends on the time of day, humor, and the content and also the quality of content. I don't get that many comments because I don't write about things that are relevant to many people, but I see the same people stopping by and I love them all. Others because they talk about older stuff such as music or movies because most people on here are 40+ it is more relatable and people will flock to those posts more. So of course people gain popularity because they are relatable and that plays an important role.

@thesupersingh If I actually wrote about things people cared about, I would be doing better. But I like what I like and no many people on here do, so it is whatever. I don't make the dolla dolla bills like everyone else. Which is why I am just there, the money is just a plus.
I'd really like to know who the popular member is who "just post a two line discussion which is just a casual one and it may become a top rated discussion". I've been on the site for over two years but haven't spotted them yet. You can tell me in a Private Message if you don't want to reveal the name openly.
@thesupersingh You are right There are many factors and it has nothing to do with popularity. But one thing I know if you respond to many discussions there is hope your discussions also will get noticed. I sometimes respond to not more than 5 day and so expect not many responses to my discussions. It is fair.

Yes, it sure does! The long-time members are more well known and followed by many others. While other members who haven't been here very long, don't have a large following. Some of my writings get 6-10 views, even if I work hard to produce a good one.
