I finally set myself free...i wrote the board of my HOA

I'm sure you're tired of hearing about my HOA, I know I'm tired of them. But I had to share this with my myLot friends. The Board has voted to issue me my third rule violation on March 19th. At the same meeting they excused my neighbors rule violation and fine (my fine will be $500 bringing my total up to $900). Each letter from the HOA Board started with "Our sympathies over your loss" and continued to tell me I was in violation and owed so much money. Not once did they take into consideration that I lost EVERYTHING I owned including all my clothing, prescription medications, vehicle, companion animals, and more. It that I would be replacing the meds and clothing out of my pocket because I couldn't get home owners insurance. It was totally "Form over the money." Well after reading their Board minutes and receiving the constant harassment I sent each board member a copy of the letter throwing it back at them that they preached at me that the rules were for everyone and no one was exempt from the rules of fines. Also it was s o kind and feeling of them to constantly be contacting me about the rules and fines without once taking into consideration my financier situation. And that I wished that the firemen hadn't managed to stop me from racing into my burning home to be with my companion animals..my friends. In short, as my boyfriend Bill said, I didn't leave them much skin after he read the letter. He also looked at me hard and stated "You've wanted to get this off your chest for quite awhile". It doesn't heal me, but it helps me feel somewhat better. I've backed them into a corner with their own words demanding to know when the next fine is due, and since the rules and fines apply to ALL members, I cannot be excused and I MUST pay my fine. It's fun being a bit-h!

I would take this up with your attorney. They are obviously singling you out like a wolf pack isolates an injured sheep from the flock. If you're going to be a bit-h, don't do it half-a$$ed, go all the way! It would also help if you could get a medical professional to testify that their actions have and are making a huge negative impact on your mental health. Go to the newspaper, call your local television stations, let 'em have it!!!

@dragon54u: right on. Somebody with a real punch, like a lawyer or better yet the TV station and newspaper, needs to be involved.

@dragon54u, @sallypup: I just found out that the current head of the HOA is thinking of making it so the members can't stockpile workhours. It's a rule that each homeowner is to do 8 hours work to help maintain common areas of the property. We have quite a few people, myself included, that work a LOT more than just the 8 hours. It's nice to see ALL the extra hours on our accounts. It doesn't stop any of us from working, but the hair brained notion of not allowing us to accumulate hours is very apt to do so. This is coming from the same lady who has been harassing me since the fire. She's looking for trouble and she is going to get it!

@BearArtistLady She sounds power hungry to me. You're right. Taking her down a peg or three might not be a bad idea. I wish you luck and wish you weren't going this horrid ordeal.

A good thing to get something off your chest. What I don´t get is why would they fine you? I suppose they think they have a reason for it and personally I don´t see what it could be. But I am from the outside looking in and its hard for me to understand why they don´t try to cooperate with you instead. Just a thought as I remember you lost your house because of a fire right? I would expect that kind of thing to go on over here and its almost normal really but I thought that over there things would be done properly and get sorted out properly. How I wish that they would treat you right and all the other possible people in your plight.

@BearArtistLady Its just not fair at all. I can see what they are doing yes. I am wishing that your Attorney manages to foil their plans whatever they are and for them to compensate you fully as they should. Wishing that they stop going against you and work with you instead. Fingers crossed that things start going your way. Can´t you take them to Court instead you know complain about them to another source in the Courts? Juist a thought really.

You're right, my house burned down October second last year. I got fines because I didn't clean up the lot as fast as they told me to clean it up. My attorney wanted it left the way it was until his expert could come out and inspect it. The fines were the HOA Board's way of proving that they are powerful and important. After all, when you're powerful and important you don't have to worry about the "little" person. Especially if they are frantically trying to come up with $28,500 the cost of cleaning the debris from the fire off the lot. The people on the HOA Board won't treat people right because they haven't been taught to treat people right. They will "treat people right" that they feel are of some use to them, namely people with lots of money. People who don't have scads of money are treated worse than the dirt under their feet. If you have a conversation with these people you hear constantly about one thing, money. Not about the people they've helped, or the organizations they've donated to, you hear that they may move to Montana because it's cheaper to live there. They can sell their house and make money. Not one thing about their helping someone in fire need...well you do ... "they should get off their lazy a$$ and get a job instead of slinging off the county or state". They don't look any deeper than the person is lazy.
