Facebook is Better Since Zuckerberg Went to Congress

I'm not sure about what other people are seeing on their Facebook feeds, but I have noticed a huge improvement in my feed since Mark Zuckerberg was forced to testify in front of Congress. Facebook seems to post fewer ads, as well as less news, fake or otherwise, on my feed. I am seeing more posts by my friends and groups I have chosen to be part of. The only news stories I see are from sites I have chosen to follow, such as Reuters and Market Watch, or news stories which are purposefully posted by my friends. When I post my photos, such as the one I took of Laguna Beach at the top of this post, it seems that my friends are finding my posts more easily. They aren't buried in their feeds. It has been a positive change and delightful improvement to Facebook. I'd be interested to see if other people are noticing an improvement on their Facebook feeds, too.

That's great if FB has cleaned up its act. I'm not on it at all but I'm well in the minority.

You are wise not to be on Facebook Judy. And don't worry, you're not missing anything important. I have a Facebook account, but I"m rarely ever on it. Just too much crap in my feed that I didn't ask for and don't want. My social media preference these days is Instagram or SnapChat.

@JudyEv - I'm sure there is still some corporate sneakiness going on in the background, but it has certainly become easier to use now, so that part is good.

@moffittjc Vince is in some special interest groups and keeps me up to date if I need to know anything - even when I don't need to know anything!

I haven't been on facebook in over a month. It seems I have no interest since I started with mylot.

@Starmaiden - At least MyLot pays a little; Facebook does not. I can understand why you would prefer this one.

I noticed Facebook asked me if I wanted to review my privacy settings, but nothing else. I'm flooded by the groups newfeeds (which I appreciate), but it's always been like that.

@sabtraversa - I have blocked a number of groups and questionable news sources on Facebook, and that helped clean up my news feed. I just kept the ones I wanted, plus my personal friends. I think that has helped a lot.

I haven't had a chance to visit Facebook lately, except for a few necessary notifications. Hopefully, I'll see the same as you.

I read an estimated 9 out of 100 US members have deleted Facebook memberships meaning almost 10% drop in participation.

I am more in mylot now rather than in Facebook. I am not even updated with my friends there.

I don't know it doesn't seems to be too different for me. Either i do not care or that the changes are not significant.

@id_peace - I hope I'm not imagining the improvement ... and I hope they don't backslide and start putting more junk in my news feed again.

@BelleStarr - I agree. I hope it does improve. They certainly have more work to do! However, I can tell they are at least making some positive changes, and that's a good start.

@DeborahDiane My husband never liked Facebook and checked my settings when I joined the site. He still thinks that it's dangerous for the privacy, but I post nothing private.

@LadyDuck - I try to keep things private, and I never friend anyone I don't actually know, but there are still privacy risks. I like to stay in touch with people on Facebook, but I realize there are risks.

I havent noticed much but I never look at my so called news feed. I have friend lists set up and always just go straight to them when I log in. They are in order of posting there also which was one big change I hated a few years back to the news feed. I would sometimes see a post that was 2 days old at the top of it. I hated that.

@wolfgirl569 - Yes, I remember when that change happened, and I have never liked it either. Often, a friend would ask if I saw the pictures they had posted on Facebook and I had completely missed them because of the weird way they had of putting things on our news feeds. I hope they continue to make things better for the users.

I've noticed too that I'm starting to see posts from friends I hadn't seen in a long time on Facebook. It definitely looks like the site has been cleaned up somewhat. Let's hope Zuckerberg continues to do the right thing and fix the problems of his site. Because of how bad it's gotten over the past few years, I pretty much don't use Facebook anymore.

@DeborahDiane Facebook used complicated algorithms to determine what friends' posts showed up in your news feed. I wonder if they have changed those algorithms or gotten rid of them altogether.

@moffittjc - I hope they have gotten rid of those algorithms. Who are they to decide what we want to see from our friends and which friends are important to us?

@moffittjc - I'm glad to know that someone else has noticed the same thing I have, that it isn't all in my mind! LOL Yes, I am seeing more posts from friends that I had not seen in a long time. I think it was because some posts were buried so far down in my news feed.

@JamesHxstatic - I like belonging to groups on Facebook, too. I belong to one with the kids I went to high school with, and another group that is for people on Weight Watchers.

I haven't paid attention to it. I only go there to play a game, or talk to a friend via chat to find out information. I do like some things I see, but for the most part, I really don't pay attention to what's taking place there.
