Have you ever studied a foreign language?

The foreign language that I am studying now is Korean. I started studying it last year and it has been 6 months I guess that I am learning it. I used apps and books and chats with Koreans to improve my Korean. If I still have time, I also published some Korean words, sentences, phrases, and songs in my blog (Roads and Pages) and I translated it in English. I asked my Korean friends to check if those are correct. I don't know how long will it takes because I can have even a short conversation using a Korean language but I hope at the end of this year, I can achieve my goals in my target foreign language. Have you ever studied a foreign language? What were your strategies?

@Freelanzer Wow! You are lucky for having an opportunity like that. I wish I could have a real conversation with Koreans too. I plan to visit Korea after I graduated from my studies.

@Datecs I also do my studies of Korean mostly online. Is there a particular site where you study French?

Here it is necessary to study English. Actually the children start to learn it from kindergarten and they start to learn it officially from primary school. This is why I learn English. Besides, I learned a little bit French but it is not good enough anyway. It is much more difficult than English in my opinion.

Yes, I took 3 years of Spanish. It was a requirement to take at least 2 years of language to graduate high school but turned out you really didn't have to. Flash cards helped me study.

My native language is Italian, I studied English, French and Spanish when I went to school. The best to learn a language is to speak with native speaking, listen to movies and TV shows.

@annierose I lived in France 30 years, French has become my second language, no difference for me to speak French or Italian. I use English every day, we speak Italian here in the south of Switzerland, Spanish is so easy for an Italian, no problem with that language.

I studied Spanish and French, Now i only remember few words. If i have to study again i would love to learn Italian. But when you study you have to use it to practice, otherwise you will soon forget. English will always be in our curriculum.

@chavezrmc That is true. I don't know how true it is that Korean language will be included in our curriculum. By the way, would you like to travel to places where French and Spanish are used?

@caopaopao You are in the right track. Reading and participating here in Mylot can practice your English skills. I also recommend for you to look for sites where you can also meet a language exchange partner. That will be a big help.

I took up Nihonggo and Spanish as required courses in high school. I didn't achieve proficiency level. I'm thinking of studying them again. Just books and the teacher for us. So nice that people can now learn languages w the help of these apps.

@Jessabum That is the reality. If we failed to practice the language, then we might forget it. I keep on studying Korean even I am busy. That is the reason, I also included it in my blog to remind myself to push with my Korean study.
