i prefer a cork board over a white board that needs a special pentel pen (white board marker).
on a cork board you just need push pins to tack reminders, flyers, notes, instructions, etc.
i took down the one in the kitchen and took out the following:
flyers and receipts from various water refilling stations
we now use a refillable water pitcher with a built-in filter
flyers and receipts for LPG delivery (liquefied petroleum gas) for the stove/oven.
i have one number that i always call now.
they're here in 5 minutes, and open every day from early morning till late at night.
instructions on how to send and receive money via smart padala
we prefer cebuana or palawan express now.
i retained the number of the plumber who is reliable
for electric fans, we'll just take them to the small repair shops around the neighborhood
finding reliable carpenters is still a challenge, though

You also have to use magnets if you will use white boards. With cork boards, all you need is the pin and it will be able to hold the paper or flyers.

we have refrigerator magnets but we don't have reminders to hang. the receipts are securely kept by my sister, in her room.

it's good to have one member who does the admin work, organizing and safekeeping important documents

@ridingbet that's extreme. but then, it seems "collecting" runs in your family. you also keep a lot of things, don't you?

@hereandthere but she is of the OCD type. every detail, including receipts from the jolly bee, she clips it.

You just gave me an idea. I realize we need one like that for the same purpose - and of course for emergency numbers.

Sounds like you are well organized. I don't use any sort of board but know where everything is.

At home, I just stick things on my refrigerator using magnets. At work, one entire wall of my office is a giant dry erase board, and it stretches from floor to ceiling. I love using that board as I have so much room to draw, sketch, write notes, leave reminders, plan upcoming workload assignments, and track staff.

@moffittjc when i read that, my initial reaction was intimidated and pressured. but when you describe about having spontaneous discussions in the hallway and capturing it so you can come back to it later, it's actually great.

@hereandthere Yeah, I had them custom-installed. You should our hallway. It is lined on both sides with floor-to-celiing white boards the entire length of the hall. It is to encourage people to get out of their offices and collaborate with each other in the hallway on new ideas. It's very effective at stimulating creativity!

Good idea to have something handy that is good for you to use to put messages or things on that you do not want to forget.
