What simple luxuries do you enjoy?..

. We all deserve to enjoy some kind of luxury don't we?. And we have different ways of treating ourselves to some kind of luxuries.. Mine is having half an hour spa at least 4 to 5 times a week before I go to bed .. It is very relaxing.. Helps me ease the pain of fibromyalgia. I used to have a massage called Bowen therapy twice a week to help me ease my pain.. I no longer can afford to pay $50 for half an hour session.. So I am really grateful that we have this indoor spa..The only luxury I can afford.. Have you heard of fibromyalgia?..If you are living with this chronic pain, what do you do to ease the pain?.. I will miss this spa when we go back to the Philippines to live.. But the beach over there is just only 5 minutes walk away.. Soaking in the seawater is also a luxury for me.. and it helps ease my pain .. Actually I have less pain when I am over there than here in Australia .. Maybe the humidity is helping my condition ... What simple luxuries do you enjoy?... Bess ..

here is a post by one mylotter, yukimori, about fibromyalgia. you can also type 'fibromyalgia' in the mylot search box
I have some reservations about posting this, because I feel like I'm going to jinx myself... but here goes anyway. I've been living with fibromyalgia since...

@epiffanie it's interesting that your pain/flareup is less here and that seawater also helps.

@hereandthere It could be the salt that helps to relax .. I put bath salt when I have my spa .. I am really struggling at the moment because it's getting colder.. and plus the anxiety of the weddings I accepted is not helping .. But as long as I know what causes the pain, I will just have to manage it the best way I can...

Bess, I have never heard it before but another member mentioned about fibromyalgia. I just checked it out and it is a new information for me. Thank you. Hoping that all be okay. I do have my massage and pedicure every two weeks, which is my pamper time then waxing. Those are the things I splurge on (besides books).

Oh that's great! .. You deserve those luxuries .. I used to have pedicure and manicure every couple weeks when I was living over there too .. But here in Australia, I do it myself.. Giving myself pedicure is a bit harder now because of my condition .. but I take my time .. even waxing, I do myself also .. lol.. I am frugal ..

@epiffanie hehehe thank you, Bess. I think I will do what you do regarding waxing myself instead of going out to the wax salon. For the pedicure, I have to get the ingrown removed or else it will hurt and I cannot do it myself.

I have fibromyalgia. I have a paraffin spa for my hands and my feet for a treatment. I take classes about herbal cooking once a month, most months. I am taking an over the counter medicine that seems to help although it is not designed for pain relief.

Yes, the seawater is good for our bodies. Also walking barefoot in the sand is also good for our health. Maybe indeed the humidity helps your condition.

Believe it or not, I can't think of any. I'm a modest person. I've read about fibromyalgia. You have my deep felt sympathy.

Thank you kindly .. It is hard for people who have not heard nor read about Fibromyalgia what it's like.. As I get older, the pain is becoming harder to ignore .. One of my simple luxuries is going for a walk by the river..Even just lying down on the couch and reading a book I consider a luxury... ..

Never heard of this. I can go to a massage spa and have 1 season per week. The blind masseurs are on point. Wish I can find not really cozy but comfortable massage spa here in the Philippines.

I wanted to get massage from the blind masseurs over there in Makati.. but I never had the chance .. I was told they are really good .. I believe that there are small resorts over there that also offer massage services.. So I hope you find one that won't put a hole in you wallet .. .

We eat out often and travel whenever I can but since I take turns to look after my mother I cannot plan much ahead. I am retired, so I can say I enjoy the free time and that is a big luxury. I worked for over forty years and I could never take my eyes off the ball all the while - siva

We are also kind of taking care of my elderly father in-law because we pick him up from the nursing home where he's staying to stay with for 4 days at a time every two weeks .. Being retired is also a luxury isn't it? .. You deserve that time for yourself after working for over forty years ..

@epiffanie Yes, we do whatever we can. Loneliness is the toughest to endure in the evening of our lives. I was working for others and it was no fun to continue to do it until my last days! siva

Are you on any kind of medication to ease your pain? For me a simple luxury would be relaxing on a secluded beach with a brand new book by my favorite author- Philippa Gregory.

I only take painkiller when the pain becomes unbearable .. I was prescribed anti-depressant but I didn't continue taking them as they made me sleep all day.. Relaxing and reading a book in a secluded beach would be a luxury indeed ..

My simple luxuries are probably just my writing and playing my guitar. Whenever I get to do either it brings me great joy.

Great luxuries you have .. I also consider writing as a luxury because I don't get to do it as much as I wanted to .. And if I learn how to play guitar, that would be such a luxury for me..

A hot bath on a cold day ... or a cold bath on a hot day. A day when I can stay in my jamies all day. Hot chocolate with marshmallows. Classical music.
