You cannot Have Water After Banana?

India
April 16, 2018 7:26am CST
We follow that strictly here and i try not to have water anytime after i have Banana that is raw Banana and not in any other way. I just googled and got this below info: Drinking water after eating bananas makes it hard to digest because of the inherent properties of the fruit which are similar to that of cold water. ... When your digestive system is not functioning properly, all the good nutrients from the food you eat may remain unabsorbed What about you? DO you follow this? Do you avoid water after having Banana? Please share.

Personally that sounds like garbage to me. Bananas and water have no similar 'properties'. In fact, athletes may use bananas AND water in place of sports drinks. "They compared athletes refueling with Gatorade every 15 minutes to athletes refueling with a banana and water. Researchers saw that the athletes' performance times and body physiology were the same in both cases. But the banana's serotonin and dopamine improved the athletes' antioxidant capacity and helped with oxidative stress, improving performance overall."
Bananas are packed with nutrients and are good for your heart, your eyes, your diet and your mood.

I second that. I also eat bananas and drink water afterwards, and I am still ok in terms of digestion. And taking bananas before a workout is definitely better for me than taking a sports drink full of sugar!

@JolietJake it could be due to the fact that athletes body system needs so much energy that and food and drink combination would be absorbed by their system. However, for many of us, such combinations could be detrimental.

One can drink water at room temperature, if cold water was the problem. I usually don't drink iced cold water, and I usually don't eat bananas either, I'm safe.

@thesupersingh I think there are only some varieties of bananas that are hard to digest. Not all bananas are the same.

Not just only banana. We shouldn't have to take water after having meal or anything else, food digest due to warm produce in our stomach and if you drink just after having any food, the warmness gets cool and the ability to digest become weak.

In fact, Ayurveda and even other medical sciences suggest that one should not take water after having any fruit - whether apples, watermelon, grapes , bananas or other fruits.
