Bad haircut!

Years ago I had the worst experience at a hairdresser. She made such a mess of my hair that people made comments about it and I had to wear a hat until it grew out. At the time I was so upset that I made a fuss and the poor girl who had cut it was in floods of tears. I still cringe when I think about it. Since then I have cut my own hair and then if it goes wrong I have no one to blame but myself and after 35 years I have become quite good at it with few mistakes. Have you ever had a bad hair experience that made you want to hide away for weeks? Image from Pixabay

The joys of being a bloke. A set of clippers and a number 1 or number 2 guard (depending on my mood) and you can't go wrong!!

Yep, that's what I do for my son but he always moans and says I am pulling his hair!

@WorDazza He did it himself last time and was complaining that the clippers were faulty as he pulled his own hair!

@sprite1950 tell him to do it himself or pay someone to have it done for him then!!! The youth of today!! So ungrateful!!

Yes, one was a horrible permanent, that looked like matted wool! One haircut, I wanted to find a place to hide, away from human eyes! Another haircut, I looked like a punk-rocker looking for a 'gig' with a funky band! Yes, I cut my own hair, even though I wear it quite long now.

I had a perm like that once. I washed it and washed it but couldn't make it loosen up and to make things worse I has to go on a work trip the next day. People were so rude to me. I cried for days.

I cut my own hair from 1995 and I am very good now. In the beginning I made a few mistakes, but now I have a good experience. I started to cut my hair after my hairdresser stopped to work and I had a couple of bad experiences.

@LadyDuck I cut my granddaughter's hair but she has long hair so it's just a matter of trimming the ends.

I've never had a bad haircut but once a hairdresser cut my ear rather badly. She was so shocked that I had to comfort her! :-)

Many years ago I wanted to have some blonde mop of hair, only a few one into the deepest regions of my hair. The hairdresser dyed the first part of my hair to yellow. It was at least a 5 cm length part in front of my head. I went home and I took some lemon on my hair to have a fair color. I couldn't change it, however I spent hours with the lemon. Then I stopped dying my hair.

@anikoonline That's the best way. I have been dying mine for so long I don't know what colour I am underneath

@sprite1950 No, I've never. I have a color that I am satisfied with. I have brown hair, thankfully almost no grey parts. I decided to enjoy my natural hair color instead of one possible failure of hair dye again.

I once cut my daughter's hair and she couldn't tie it back because I cut it too short. It was curly so stuck out like Crystal Tips .. like the picture. She hated me for it!

@mlgen1037 I didn't really mean to cut it that short but it seemed to ride up by the next day. She just about managed to scrape it back for school.

Yes, I got a cut at a hair shop and they butchered my hair, I cried for days until one of my friends came over and he fixed it for me. He had to cut quite a bit to even it all out but it looked so much better by the time he was done. My daughter in law is a stylist and has been doing my hair for over 10 yrs, i don't go anywhere else

@sprite1950 someone did a bad job on her hair she said. To me, it looked fine. So sometimes she cuts it on her own. She has very short hair anyway.

I have long hair now and I'm sure Vince could trim it for me. I wouldn't feel confident to do it myself but it shouldn't be hard just to take the ends off.

I have had a few over the years. The worse was quite a few years ago now. A girl I knew at the time was training to be a hair dresser so I wanted to support her. When I went in my hair was half way down my back. I just wanted a trim but when I left I had a pixie cut. She kept making mistakes and trying to them. I could have cried...needless to say I never went back to her but then again she never made it as a hairstylist.

Back when I was a teenager the big thing was a spiked haircut. I wanted one and so my mom took me to the local hairstyling school—where she always went because it was cheap. The guy proceeded to put these roller things in my hair and kept squirting solution on, which I thought was curious. "This is going to make my hair standup?" I asked. "Yep." He responded. By the time I got out of there I walked away with tight curled perm and looked something like Eddie Haskel. It was not a fun time being in school at that time in my life, believe me.

Tina Turner
No. But your story reminds me of Tina Turner. Yes, Tina Turner the entertainer. The beautician messed up her hair and that's why the ladies started wearing wigs in their onstage performances. The thing is ... that picture you have for this post? That's a normal hairstyle these days. Image credit: YouTube official video for Tina Turner - “What's Love Got To Do With It?”

Yes I heard she wore a wig but didn't realise it was for that reason I thought the facial expression on my picture fitted with what I felt when my hair went wrong

I can't say I've ever had a really bad hair experience, but there have been a few that haven't really been what I wanted. Perhaps my worst experience was when I was about 18 and dyed my hair red. I was going for subtle auburn highlights. I got carrot.

Oh yes I've had a few colour accidents too. I once did mine a burgundy colour and it looked terrible as it didn't suit my skin tone. I put a blonde colour over the top and it gave me a lovely copper colour so it turned out well in the end.
