Animals know!

I'm sure we've all heard it said that animals know when a person is kind or otherwise.
I saw a dramatic demonstration of this a few years ago. I was working for a charity, selling lottery tickets in shopping centres. The centre I was in on this particular day was an open-air one, with a wide walkway through the middle. A man came along and tied his dog to a post on the opposite side of the walkway from where I was, about 10 metres (30 feet) away. I'm not sure what breed it was - probably a "bitzer". It was fairly big, but seemed pretty placid, just laying down watching the people go by.
Then a guy walked by on my side. Remember, he was at least 10 metres from the dog. Suddenly the dog was on its feet, straining at the lead and snapping and snarling. After the guy had gone, he settled down again.
I couldn't help wondering, What did the dog see in this bloke that set him off that way?
Have you ever witnessed a reaction like that from an animal?

Oh yeah, the dog instinctively knew that that guy was not a good person @lynnief . My Akita could tell if someone even coming up the driveway was good or not. If they were good, his tail would stay curled (like a Husky) over his back. If they were bad, that tail would immediately extend straight out from his body.

@lynnief We should all have their sensory perception.

Yes they know if a person is good or bad and they can smell if he is caring something bad maybe that's what happened in this case
