Here is the last music post for the 1980s and then it will be on to the 1990s. In 1989 the biggest song was “Look Away” by Chicago and it stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks. It was on their album Chicago 19 and is their seventh number one song. The Song of the Year was one of my all-time favorites “Don’t Worry Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin. The song won Record of the Year and the Best Pop Vocal Performance. The best song of this year was “Fight the Power” by Public Enemy. It is a very political song by this hip-hop group. It was written on the request of film director Spike Lee who was looking for a musical theme for his 1989 film “Do the Right Thing”. The song first came out on the group's studio album Fear of a Black Planet. What do you think of these songs and the artists?
