Why it's necessary to have a cake in a birthday?

I just thought about it now, I'm just curious when it all starts to have a cake in birthday. Can anyone share their thoughts about this? Thanks! Have a nice day!

The cake represents the womb of the mother, the act of cutting it open and share the slices represents the birth itself. Just kidding, I have no clue. But I believe it's a very old tradition.

Haha@sabtravesa great answer. Records show that it goes back to the Ancient Greeks and Romans but in Germany around the 15th century they made cakes associated with birthdays. Some cakes are delicious so just cut a slice and enjoy it!

A cake isn't necessary but is a nice way of saying "thinking about you on your birthday." To take the time to bake and decorate a cake for your loved ones on their birthday is a nice gesture of love and appreciation. Besides, you get to share it with them.

In search for answer, I got this. lol It originated in Europe, Germany or Greece. They have many stories. But a cake make the birthday more meaningful and make the celebrant feel more important.

No clue either. Well, I don't mind if the cream on the cake does taste good (some was so awful!).

That cake in the picture looks yummy! I suppose it isn't necessary but it is nice to get a cake for a person as a way of celebrating and it can be shared with friends too.

It is up to us to use cake or not. This tradition is believed to be the mixture of Ancient Egyptians and Romans with medieval times Germans.
