What kind of cheap cookies shall I buy?

Innocent me. I put an ad on the Facebook page. Just a simple inquiry: got a rental house. Anybody interested? The ants boiled out of the woodwork. Boy am I interested! How much and where is it? Tell me now! It got so crazy that I finally said that hubby and I would be there this coming Friday and we could have a town meeting. I gave the address and said that interested folks could show up then. Meantime I am dealing with private messages and thinking about who I want in that house and all the questions that I must ask when I meet the people for real. For sure deposits. Like I said, I'd best buy cookies in case folks do show. One man already said that he and his wife had walked by the house tonight.

@Morleyhunt I hear you loud and clear. Years ago we rented a little house out and the sadness when we returned. I've heard of broken windows etc.

@Morleyhunt Your comment gives me a huge headache. The house we are renting out has original 118 year old doors and staircase and floors and then the new floors are gorgeous. Oh please, be kind, people. Be kind.

@sallypup we had an apartment we rented out....what part of no pets do people not understand. Holes in the wall (13) ??? Wrecked showere rods....towel rods pulled off the wall....curtain rods bent like a clothes hangar....a hole through the bathroom door? How can one couple...with a newborn wreak so much havoc in six months?

I once read an article about people renting property having the right to refuse to let the owner enter while they destroyed their property, it was in that states laws, just thought I'm mention that it might be a good idea to find out what the rights are for renters before you rent, I'd hate for your new house to be destroyed because a seemingly nice couple decided to knock out walls and stuff like that.

You'd have to check with the laws @sallypup anyone can promise you the moon then do what they want, just make sure they don't have the right to do that to you in the event you need to evict someone.

It seems rentals are always in high demand. I learn a lot from our friend @andriaperry about being the landlady.

Be very careful. Good tenants that stay are a blessing. Bad tenants are hard to get rid of. It's lucky you have so many to choose from. Your house must be in a popular location at a reasonable price.

@sallypup We will accept slightly lower rent when we see a really good tenant with a great credit record. Our current tenant is a sheriff's deputy married to a school teacher. They are people we wouldn't mind living next door to ourselves, and having them their makes the neighborhood safer.
