This is reaching back to an old tune most of you will not know unless a fan of vintage movies. The song had been around a long time before Judy Garland. “Meet me in St. Louis, meet me at the fair” The originally titled “Meet Me in St, Louis, Louis” (as in Louie) was written in 1904 by Tin Pan Alley ragtime composer Kerry Mills and lyricist Andrew B. Sterling. They wrote it in celebration of the 1903 Louisiana Purchase Exposition better known as the St. Louis World’s Fair. The song was recored several times and can be heard in the 1941 James Cagney movie “The Strawberry Blonde.” Based on Sally Benson’s reminiscences, “Meet Me in St. Louis” is considered among the greatest and most beloved of movie musicals of all time. The MGM picture is a family story and slice of Americana. Garland also introduced “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” in this movie. “Meet Me in St. Louis” is played at Cardinals games.
From the 1944 movie "Meet Me in St. Louis."

I can’t remember when I saw this movie. That’s the one channel I miss: TMC.

I do remember the movie being shown on TMC. That tune is a little before my time, but I do remember "The Trolley Song" from another of her movies and she was always great in those old Andy Hardy flicks..
