Hasn't California Been Through Enough?

The eastern Bay area and right through Oakland, California is due for a big earthquake. This is where the fault line is. It could be a 7.1 scale earthquake. It has been just 100 years since the last one this year. Are they even over the fires and the devastation that caused?

Glad I don't live there. I met a young girl, years ago now, that had moved here from California due to all the quakes. They scared her so badly.

In 1989 since ESPN has this habit of repeating horror stories on the anniversary of that tragic incident like a broken record.

Have the people taken care of building the was it should be done? A 7.1 earthquake is big but things can be managed if people are aware of the problem.

The newscaster said that 50 000 homes could be lost due to gas lines.

@celticeagle It is shocking! There are many big earthquakes in my country but they have to be bigger than that to do that kind of damage.

They have had a few big earthquakes, and I don't know how they determine they "are due" for another one, but it's reasonable to expect there will be sooner or later. Have they been through enough? You know, if you build a house three feet from the ocean, it's going to get flooded sooner or later. California is on unstable earth. It's just the way it is. If people decide to live there anyway, it's a chance they take.

They determine that by the history of earthquakes in the area. True. It's a chance they take.

@celticeagle I know. I just meant that I don't think they can really predict anything for sure. They assume certain things that may or may not be so.

It's horrible how much they are going through, but it amazes me that people can know how much goes on there and they still want to live there. I don't personally get it. I am sure it's not all bad but I know they deal with a lot of fires and earthquakes. No place is one hundred percent safe from natural disasters but some definitely have more than others. I know some people don't have a choice because they were born there and they may not have the money to move but others move there thinking of all of the perks not realizing how many other issues they deal with. I personally, would love to visit but wouldn't want to live there. I feel like the Midwest is the best place to live but it isn't really on anyone's bucket list to visit. I will take plain and boring if it means not dealing with as many natural disasters. I really do hope they get through all of this though with as few casualties as possible.

Maybe the people of California should think about praying for Divine Intervention that a huge earthquake does not take down the Golden State in our lifetimes.

If it hasn't happened no need to worry about it, just be aware it could happen.

Are they any casualty? My country belongs to a ring fire so we're afraid when the big one comes.
