Nicer Weather Here is Melting Most of Our Snow and Ice

This is a picture of the back and side of my yard taken when I was sitting in my car this afternoon. We still have a bit of snow in clumps at the end of the driveway from when the plows went through earlier in the week, but most of the remaining snow and ice in the driveway has melted today. It was still a bit brisk, so I thought I needed my scarf, gloves and hat along with my coat, but driving to my mom's was warmer than I expected. Course, that is probably due to the fact that I had on a turtleneck sweater, thinner shirt and two fleece, zipper sweaters that I wear almost all the time. It was nice to see blue skies once again and sun. How is the weather where you live? If you had the snow or ice storm has it finally left your area too?

We are having unseasonably warm weather for England - it's been in the 80s these last three days.

that sounds a lot like the weather Anna has seen recently. I'm pretty sure we won't see that yet this month, but you never know what jet stream is going which way or whatever it is that causes such weather highs. It seems that no month has been normal these past three or four years, so anything could happen, but hopefully it's closer to norm than it has been.

@DianneN you miss that already don't you? Although if CT is like Michigan right now, it almost feels like weather down south as it followed so close on the heals of icy weather.

I see that the snow is melting. Here it's the second day of record high temperature for a month of April, crazy!

@MarshaMusselman It was 84 F yesterday and today. This is too hot for a month of April, I cannot remember we ever had this temperature in April.

@LadyDuck I don't know that we had those temps in April either before, but in 2012 we got several days of eighty degree temps in March, and then a month later a hard frost which killed almost all the new growth including the newly budded trees and fruit trees too.

How high is that, Anna? It was 45 yesterday here, but still somewhat brisk. By next week it may get nearer to 60 but that remains to be seen.

A lot of southern states still had colder temps this month, though Pat, even if they didn't get the snow and ice. Were the temps there in NC colder at anytime this month than normal? I remember that spring comes there in March, normally, rather than April like it mostly does here other than this year. My tulips are starting to creep up past the ground level and probably by next week certain flowers may be blooming once our temps stay where they belong. We may get colder nights for a while first though.

It is great to have the snow and ice melt. The little bit of snow we had melted quickly. Luckily, we had no ice since our return from Florida. We are in the midst of a sunny warm up now. It's long overdue!

I went from wearing a winter jacket over two sweaters with gloves, scarf and a hat to barely needing a coat. We love it, but its so weird. It reminds me of an Easter growing up when we had several foot of snow and then on Easter it was in the seventies. We played in the snow in our summer wear. Most of it melted by the time we got to Grandmas, but there was still some left on the north side of her house.

The ground was white this morning. Most of it had disappeared by 10 AM....flurries at noon....but the forecast is showing weather that seems more spring like.

THe upcoming forecast for us it more along normal lines finally. We've not had snow or freezing rain since this past Monday. Our driveway would have been clean already except I didn't bother doing any shoveling. I missed my window to do so when the snow was melting a few days ago. When I finally got out there it was again pretty frozen. I tried to remove some but gave up soon after. I think that finally I can put the snow shovels back into the garage until next year.

Cold here. We have to use gloves, thick coats etc for our walk. At least the weather lately has seemed to be slightly warmer.

I'm curious where you live that it's still that cold. Do you expect warmer temps soon or are you in your winter months now?
