As soon as I wake up, I read news online. Now, of course, I do it after I give Luna her breakfast.
Today I read that in Texas, a dog owner had taken her 4 dogs to an empty lot, left them there and drove away.
This is when cellphone with cameras come handy. There was someone who told her not to do it and then proceeded to video the whole situation. She also called for help and the dogs were taken care of and the woman brought to justice.
I wonder, why would you have dogs (and not one but 4) if you cannot take care of them?

In my city there are stray dogs (less now than before) specially in poor neighborhoods. You won´t see one in my neighborhood. And the dogs have a collar with a name and address more of the time.

@amadeo I some neighborhoods where poor people live. This is a very big city and there are places with slums.

People dump their animals in our neighborhood all the time. It is so sad. That's how we got our dog.

What I don´t understand is why they get a dog if they won´t take care of it. In this case (the news) the woman was getting rid of 4 grown dogs.

@marguicha Aw. Did it say the reason why she is getting rid of those dogs? She can place them in an animal shelter, at least. My heart pours out to those poor dogs. They dont deserve that.

That woman deserves the same to happen to her! She may be desperate, she may be in dire circumstances, she may not have food for her dogs or for herself but there are thousands of no-kill shelters around the country and in her own state that would take those dogs and find them good homes.
Unfortunately, abandoning a newborn or an animal doesn't carry any penalties here. Those lives are not considered precious. Animals can die and few care; fire stations will accept very young babies with no questions asked but all too often the mom leaves them in the garbage. People also let their animals give birth and throw away or drown the babies. What monsters we have in this world!!

If a person doesn´t want puppies from the dog, there are ways. But in this case, they were 4 gron dogs. She must have had them for a time. Shouldn´t she bond with them?

Perhaps they were offspring and it gone over whelming. Whatever the reason there all always things they can do. I feel sorry for the dogs. They give their love to humans so freely.

Humans are just so odd, aren't they?
We do have pets and doing that to any animal or human is unthinkable for us.

Some people are evil even to their own children. Do you remember a couple that kept their children prisoners and half starved?
