One Week Later

Last Friday will live in the minds of many people in Wisconsin as the three-day blizzard broke records, not only in the number of inches/feet of snow but also for April snowfall. Normally the blizzard the magnitude we got would have been seen in January or February. Not! This was an April blizzard. Now, one week later, temps are in the 50's F and snow is melting. I took the picture a few days ago when it stopped snowing to show the level of snow on the snowbank against the cars on the street. You can just see the top of the car in the top picture and more of it in the bottom picture, taken today. You can also see in the bottom picture that grass is starting to show. I tried to get a good picture of it, but there is a robin on the grass, no doubt very happy he can look for food again. Today is just beautiful outside, as I was just out there and almost didn't need my winter jacket. I had an appointment with the chiropractor. I really messed up my back. He worked on it for a few minutes and then sent me into the therapy room for electrical stimulation and ice. He didn't say anything about another appointment, but he thinks I'll be back next week. He left it up to me. I got all my notifications done earlier, and took a three hour nap. I was up before 2 this morning, so I was ready by 8 when I finished the notifications. I probably would have slept longer, but I was woken by a knock on the door. One of the maintenance men was there, concerned because he thought I had fallen on ice. He said my neighbor pointed to my door and said 'ice'. She speaks Spanish, so he didn't know what she was talking about, and was happy I hadn't fallen on any ice. With being up, I made myself breakfast at 11 a.m. and set up my dinner in the crock pot. A pot roast. I got home at 2:30 with no tantalizing aroma permeating through the apartment. I plugged in the coffee maker instead of the crock pot, so dinner might be a little later than expected. It makes me wonder if I'm going to eat before I leave for the Weidner Center tonight and the R.L. Stine event for UntitledTown. I think it was the excitement of that event that had me up at 2 a.m. I got a lot done before I left for the pool this morning, though with my back as bad as it is, I could only do 7 minutes on the elliptical in the fitness center. The water felt awesome as usual. I also worked on Thread of Evidence this morning after my nap, so it's been a productive day. Okay, you're all caught up with my day. What was/is your day like? Thanks for reading.

One of my friends in St. Louis loves R.L Stine and found out yesterday that he is going to be in WI today, so she tweeted him that he should skip there and go straight to her area instead. I couldn't help but laugh, since I knew you were going to be seeing him tonight. lol. You sure were up early and had a good productive day! Good for you. Hope your back is better soon.

@just4him Aw. Yeah, it'll be winter and snowy again before you know it. I'm glad you did get to enjoy the snow once more this season. :) Awesome! I can see why it was packed, he's been putting out awesome books for a long time. I grew up reading Goosebumps. :)

@tammys85 A lot of people did. I mentioned to my younger son about Goosebumps yesterday, not thinking he knew who the author was, and he rattled off his name right away. He read him too as a kid and I saw those books around the house.

Not really happy with it, but I do need to allow spring to have her way. We're getting into the 60's today. R.L. Stine was fabulous! I totally loved his presentation. The Weidner was packed and it's a huge auditorium where they have major stage productions. I don't know if they got into the nosebleed area, but the floor and second levels were definitely packed.

You really got a lot done. I've been on the computer most of the day mylotting and posting and answering comments on Virily. After I ate dinner I took the walk I posted about.

Valerie, I've plugged in the wrong thing before, had a similar incident How did you injure your back, is it getting better?

I wouldn't say injured, but over stressed it doing grocery shopping without using the mobile cart, because I thought I could, but no, not yet. I saw the chiropractor and with the help of Ibuprofen for the heavy weekend schedule I had, it's feeling better. I'm sorry you're not doing well with your back.

Happy the chiropractor helped with your back. That is sweet that your neighbor was worried. It's alright - I have made the same mistake by not plugging in the slow cooker too. Oh dear. Enjoy the R.L Stine. Congrats on more activity at the gym! Today it has been really hard for me to get moving. I can hardly believe that it is already 4PM - I am meeting a friend for supper and still so much to do. Oh well.

@FayeHazel What did you decide on? Thanks. It was very bad last night. It's feeling better at the moment, but before I leave today, I'll be taking some Ibuprofen. Hopefully it will keep the pain at bay.

What a difference, and I am sure you are glad to see the Snow leaving. We have been in the 60s the last 2 days and they are predicting maybe as high as 70 Sunday or Monday

There's even more gone as I look out the window. Big difference. No, I'm not happy to see it leave. I never am, but I need to let spring have her way, and let winter go for another year. We're getting into the 60's today, so more will be melted by day's end.

Wow, that's a big difference in a week. I hope that there is no more snow for this year. My day was good. I wanted to go out for a long walk and buy some grapes as they were on sale and go to the gym to lift some small weights and did both.

With everything on your plate, you have so much energy. How long was the meat in the crock pot without it being plugged in? It won't be spoiled will it?

The calm after the storm. Hope you got your back issue worked out. I will be at my chiropractor on Monday. Unfortunately I suffer arthritis and cervical radiculopathy. As for R.L. Stine, seems like he would be fun to meet.

Are you finally tired of the snow? Imagine it is a little over 7 months till December - and the possibility of snow again. That happened to me a number of times - plugging in the wrong appliance - but on every occasion I hadn't left the house.
