What's This- Gas Prices Go Down with the Sun?

As everyone knows- the gas prices are always ridiculously high. Even when they say that oil is down per barrel it never translates to the pump. And in the last little while it's really been creepng up! And now, in my very few night travels, I've been noticing that lately they are slipping the price DOWN at night?? My husband says that they probably do that so they can say that on an average the gas price is such and such a day? Just not sure why they are doing this but one thing I know- it's to their advantage. What's next! Pixabay Free Image

I think you re right. And they just look for excuses to put the price up. when the prices go down they don't pass on too much of th savings!

I wish I would see them go down. I'm seeing them going up around here. I hope it goes back the other way soon. I'll be getting gas in the next week.

@MarymargII People are planning their vacations, and will get out of town as soon as the last bell of school sounds for their children. The gas stations know that, and will gauge their prices accordingly.

@just4him True and everyone knows that they do. Not too much can be done, however, unfortunately.

Yes, but hope it's not because they figure less people go out at night- so won't use it??

That is some thing very strange thing i am hearing! Prices getting slashed during night times? No clue why this thing is happening! Yes of course there must be some advantage for the sellers otherwise why should they have adopted this system! Thanks @MarymargII!

I think they want to say that on an average they are at a lower price during the day- but not many fill up at night!

@MarymargII , I am still not clear, In India the prices they changes from day to day and the new price is applicable from midnight! May be it is something like that there also in your country. Because of which prices slash for next day then it would be shown less in the night while it was more on the same day time! Thanks!

@AKRao24 Not really because they go back up the next day? that's why it's strange.

Gas price is very expensive here in Europe and it does not go out during night.

@MarymargII Here the price is the same during the day and the night. You can shop around, some gas stations are cheaper than others, but only a matter of a few cents.

We only get gas in the daytime so we haven't noticed. I hope that the price starts to drop soon.

I have never paid attention to the time of day and gas prices. But you have piqued my interest and I may just have to explore this. I DO know prices tend to ramp up right before the weekend.
