Things Are Changing

Nothing really ever stays the same, that is a fact that most people know anyways, so when something changes unexpectedly ... well read on. I have type 2 diabetes, most already know this, but I do not have high blood pressure or any of the aliments that usually come with it. In 2007 I was told I had it took meds a few months and the doctor took me off of them once I learned how to eat a diabetic diet and I kept my blood sugar down, That worked for 8 - 9 years. One winter I decided I wanted to eat whatever and that put me back on the meds. I am a praying woman and I have been hard at it, asking for help to get rid of these pills. For a week now I have been feeling tired and dragging around, still working but not as much as I usually do, well yesterday I was changing the bed sheets, putting up laundry and just doing the normal in house stuff and I began to feel it coming.... the white out! The white out is the most dangerous for me, its when the blood sugar dive bombs to low, to fast. I grabbed the meter and I wiped my finger with alcohol, punched it and read the blood sugar number, I was at 65..... I cussed and went for the peanut butter and jelly for a sandwich. Normal is 80 to 100. Ya see I had ate! I had taken the same amount of meds I have for months and months, its changed again. Maybe God got around to me and answering my prayer to be off the medication. If so this will be awesome! Not to have to take meds, well expect the hormones, I will take them till I die because I am one crazy bytch without those I ate out last night, well I got a box of take out from the buffet, Chinese food usually will elevate the numbers but I got a wonderful 130 this morning. I do thank God! While the pills are free, I still do not want them unless absolutely necessary. How is your health?

I hope you can totally get off the pills then Andria. Except the hormones. My health is okay but it is just stress that ruins me. I do have a couple health issues, but are managed with meds.

Seeing I had the surgery I think it will be alright, I will be going in for a yearly check up and will be asking for a blood test thou to see where my HGB is now and my Calcium. Last time well the HGB was a 7 when I left the hospital and my Calcium was down too. Think I will try to make it for next week. Hope you can get off the pills and it all works out for the good.

I hope you're able to get off the meds! My mom's blood sugar numbers are way too high lately. Hers has been up in the 300s!! So, maybe it's time to change her meds. My health is the same as it has been, still no date for rescheduling my surgery but my cast is supposed to come off on Tuesday...knock wood.

@andriaperry True, she needs to eat healthier and start exercising. I'm worried she's going to start requiring insulin shots if she doesn't get it under control though.

Its not about changing meds, its about her changing what she eats and how much exercise she does.

I am needing to get back on the wagon so to speak. Also need to quit having all these colds and infections as they tend to raise my numbers, both there and with the blood pressure. Keep on top of things, girl. Good luck.

All considered, I guess I´m fine. If I decide to make a list of ailments, I´d make a long one. But I prefer to make grocery lists.

I am sure the diabetes in inherited, both mom and dad had it as well as many in their families. I was doomed.

@andriaperry I still have everything but the mood swings some days are still wild. Most days when that happens everyone but my Bambi dog stays out of my way. For some reason I have never been too upset with her no matter what happens. I can curl up beside her and calm down.

I do not have either ovaries because those were almost cancerous, I caught it just in time the uterus was filled with tumors so it was going no matter what. I feel to much without them.

Hope things settle for you and that you can stop taking the diabetes Meds. I've been blessed with excellent health. My medicine cabinet has some Tylenol and some Ibuprofen. That's all. And even those I rarely take (maybe once or twice a year.

Due to financial problems, a system of medicine foreign to me here and other reasons being no need to I stopped seeing the men in the white coats. I have not had a day of illness unless it is my sinuses or just feeling blah, take no medications not even aspirin because I don't need to and like the Energizer Bunny I keep on going. Wonder how it will be in the states though. Wishing you the best of health and virtual hugs from my side of the world.
