Shopped at Sephora for the first time + other good deals

My daughter needed to get a present for her friends birthday party today so we had to go shopping last night.
I had a $15 off $30 purchase at Hot Topic so my daughter got a My Chemical Romance wallet for herself, a pair of black jeans and a My Chemical collectible vinyl figure of her friend.
Two years ago or so I got a $10 egiftcard to Sephora from Crowdtap. I never shopped there but figured I better get the gift card used up with the way all the stores around us are going out of business.
I was surprised how costly the items were at Sephora. I finally found a mascara and bought that. With the $10 gift card it cost me $2.87. The cashier signed me up for their rewards card which will just be one more thing I carry around in my purse and never use. They put the mascara in a little gift bag with matching tissue paper I felt so classy lol
The photo is of the bag and mascara I bought.
At Walmart I was looking around and trying to remember what I had seen on the Ibotta app on my iPod at home. I couldn’t remember so I used the free WiFi and downloaded it to my phone. I saved $4.50 that way!
While heading to checkout there were two young girls who went up to a handsome African American worker and asked if they could touch his hair. It was basically a fro in a high ponytail so it kind of looked like a mushroom. He bent down and let them. They squealed with excitement and told him how awesome it is and they loved it. I felt very awkward for the poor guy but he was sweet about it.

Wonderful. I miss shopping too but I am glad that you are able to buy the things you need and had fun.
That boy is such a gentleman, too.

@mlgen1037 I never miss shopping I hate shopping. We did have a good shopping trip but we didn't get home until late and went to bed at 11:30. Then she was worried about getting ready for her friends party so she woke up at 7:30. I was exhausted and had a headache all day yesterday. It was a beautiful day and wished I had felt better to go out for a walk with my puppy. Today my son and I are going to be busy catching up on some school work so I won't have time to enjoy the beautiful weather.

@mlgen1037 Yes I cherish all the times I have with my kids as you say they won't want to do these things with me forever. I will have empty nest syndrome terrible when they are grown. She has a great time at her friends party which was yesterday at 1pm.

@shaggin Mother duties first.
But it is nice to bond with your children for they wont do that with you forever. But I miss doing it with my mom. I think your daughter is excited that she cant wait to go to the party. Is she there now?

What great deals you were able to get. The best was spending time with your daughter!
My first Sephoro experience was in their big Paris store. I love their colored eye pencils and always stop in for my birthday presents. As much as I love Sephora, I prefer to shop at Saks. They always give me great samples and points towards gift cards. They carry more than Sephora does, too.
That was so nice of that guy to let the girls touch his hair!

@DianneN I hate shopping but my daughter loves it so at least it gives me time to spend with her I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a store called Saks before. I did notice the different colored eye liners at Sephora but I only wear black now when I wear it. As a teen I wore all kinds of colors.

he probably gets that a lot. i remember when i was in my 20's i had forgotten how my friend in schools hair had felt and was curious, so i asked my new friend then to feel hers (African American also) and it was like soft cotton angel hair.

@bunnybon7 When I was a teen I asked a girl in our school if I could touch her hair too. My friends were horrified I asked her that. I thought it would be really course but it was so amazingly soft. She was the only African American girl in school at the time. There are more living in town now then then and I think it's wonderful.

@bunnybon7 I was really bad at learning to control what I said and did. Plus I had an altered that at the time. I am embarrassed now about asking her but she was nice about it.

@LadyDuck I had no idea what brands they sold there so never felt like stopping to check it out. I need to use up the gift cards I have though since so many stores are going it of business. It wasn't my daughter who said that to the young worker it was just two girls we walked past as this was going on.

I have to say that I love Sephora. I concede the cosmetics can be a bit pricey, but they have the higher end products there so I expect it. I like the customer service most of all in Sephora. I am not very good with cosmetics, so I wouldn't know where to begin when it comes to selecting things for my skin but I booked a makeover with them once and it was great.

@AlishaTR I was assuming that people who are used to buying higher end makeup like you mentioned wouldn't think Sephora was as expensive as I did since I only shop for makeup at Walmart. A friend of mine who changed genders loves Sephora. I did feel appreciated by the clerk's who worked the counter and that is rare to find so I am in agreement with there customer service! The women seemed happy doing their jobs.

You did great! You should sign up for the birthday club at Sephora. I got some birthday freebies there.

@snowy22315 Well they did start sending me emails now and they asked my birthday when I signed up. The email mentioned the perks of being a member and did say something about birthdays. I just skimmed the email and deleted it. My birthday will be coming around in August so I'll see if they send me any coupons for free things.

You will also get a birthday from Sephora :) And coupons in your email. Very nice you were able to finally use up that gift card. :)
Yay for using Ibotta. I am almost near my $20 to cash out (first time ever) It is so hard for me on there.

@infatuatedbby I’m curious what the birthday will be. What has it been for you? Ibotta usually I only earn about 25 cents back a week so this time was much better!

@andriaperry this one is inside JCPenney. I’m not sure if it’s always part of a store or if they have a larger stand alone store out there in other locations.
