An elderly lady gets a very special birthday gift

Lillian Grant, 103, who is currently living at the Ridgeview Gardens Assisted Living in St. George Utah was asked by Debbie Presland who is the administrator what Lillian wanted for her 103rd birthday present. Lillian wanted a cat to be her companion since her previous cat named Sammy passed away a year ago. Debbie contacted her brother Joseph Harradine who is animal services officer at the St. George's Animal Shelter to find the cat to replace the departed Sammy. The cat that the animal shelter settled on was Marley, 9, who was sent to the animal shelter after his previous owner moved to an assisted living center that does not allow pets. The catch was if Marley and Lillian were not able to start a friendship, the shelter would find another cat to replace Sammy to be Lillian's pet companion. Both Lillian and Harley have become great friends. Lillian named her new companion Marley Sammy since she misses her previous cat after his death.
