An eventful Fairbridge Music Festival

Well, Fairbridge Music Festival is over for another year and we enjoyed our time there. It was quite eventful really. On the Thursday night, we had tea in an hotel in a small town near the venue and we and our friends each won a tray of meat in a raffle. We camped opposite the hotel overnight and joined the queue at the festival venue bright and early next morning. I had a massive nose-bleed on Friday, it rained quite a bit through Saturday evening and part of Sunday, a gust of wind on Sunday blew the annex of our caravan loose and wrecked it and our friend got locked in the toilets. Apart from that it was your usual fun music festival! There were some great acts, especially several groups from Ireland. And a young Australian group, the Perch Creek Family Band, made a great impression on the large crowd. One of their members played the saw. Have you heard a saw played with a violin bow? It is quite an eerie sound. The photo shows some of the water escaping that collected in the roof of our friend’s annex. Just behind is our caravan with the red annex which is no more!

The nose bleed sounds scary..do you have any idea what caused it? I have seen people on TV play a saw before and other household items they have fashioned into instruments..quite amazing.

@JudyEv that's sad to hear..I heard that heat in our body is one the reason for nose bleeding.Im not sure about it. Take care Judy.

You took things in your stride and that did not deter you from enjoying the festival What caused that bleed?

@JudyEv I sometimes wonder when blue blood is a bad sign why people call themselves blue blooded and therefore royal (lol)

I don't know but my nose bleeds from time to time. I haven't had such a severe one for a long time. And would you believe the blood was red, not blue? I can't be of royal blood after all!

It looks like you must have gotten a lot of rain. What caused your nose bleed? I hope that they don't return.

I used to get a lot of nose-bleeds as a child but now I only get them occasionally. There doesn't seem to be anything that triggers them.

I'm sorry you had a nose-bleed, and your annex was wrecked, but glad you had a good time overall.

Yes, it was a great shame. We should have lowered the awning when the wind first got up.

I must have a funny nose. From time to time it decides to bleed. I'm not sure why.

The caravan is insured but it will be a replacement issue. We managed to roll it back up to travel but it's too badly damaged to be repaired.

Saw playing is something that mountain folk in the US do.

I think this group got some of their eearly inspiration from such people. They used to call themselves the Perch Creek Family Jug Band and one would play the jug from time to time.

There must have been gallons on the roof. The water from the bus ran down onto that awning. There was a lot of water that had collected.

Although we want to sell the bus/motor-home, it is ideal for events like this one. We will miss it when it goes.

@Kandae11 It is a bit unwieldy and limited in where you can take it. With the car and caravan, you can unhook the car and do day trips or go off-road much more easily. We can't really afford to keep both permanently although it would be nice.
