Burnt lunch anyone?

I forgot that I was heating our food for lunch a while ago. I went up to our room to teach English to my students while the stove was on. My son was knocking and said there was a bad smell coming from the kitchen. That was when I remembered what I have done. I am getting forgetful these days. I am so busy. Because of that we will be having canned food for lunch. Has this ever happened to you?

i'm glad he alerted you to it. it's going to be hard cleaning the pot or pan you used. try opening windows to air out the smell. the worst i did was let a kettle of water boil and evaporate until it was empty.

Sadly yes...Now, I soaked the black pot in soap and water. The bottom part is so hard with burnt food in it.

You risk running to toilet with undercooked food

I think undercooked is better. There is ni risk of spreading fire.

when i cook the rice for the dogs in the stove, sometimes i forget to lower the fire, and it gets a bit burnt. i have my first aid though so there is no burnt rice at the bottom of the pot

@Anne88 it is actually my sister's "first aid" when we know the bottom of the pot is already burnt or nearly charred. i dip the pot on a basin of cold water, or tap water from the faucet, to cool down the hot bottom surface of the pot. there is the "ksssstt" sound of the water, and i leave the pot with the bottom submerged to the water. more often than not, the burnt rice won't be so burnt after all.

@ridingbet I see. I tried soaking the insides where the burnt food was with water mixed with dishwashing liquid.

Not yet coz probably I don't cook. I'm sorry you forgot that you were cooking. Sometimes we get so engrossed in what we're doing that we tend to forget things. However, you must be careful especially with cooking coz you might not only get burnt food, that might be the cause of something more dangerous. You don't want to burn down your whole house.

I have had that happen to me when trying to do to many things at once. Burnt food in a pot is hard to clean, ugh.
