The sidewalk is no place for cyclists!

For many years the cyclists in my city have complained that there aren't enough bike lanes. The city was forced to spend millions of dollars to put bike lanes on almost every major street and artery in the city. Since we've finally been having some nice, spring weather, I've been out walking more enjoying it. Today I was out walking and someone on an electric bike tooted his horn from behind me to let him pass. There is a bike lane on BOTH SIDES of the street! As I was walking back home on this same street, I heard "Excuse me", from behind and met with three cyclists hogging the sidewalk behind me. I had to step aside to let them pass and again there are bike lanes just beyond the curb on both sides of the street! A message to all cyclists; The sidewalk is for PEDESTRIANS, not PEDDLERS! You whined for bike lanes, you got them, USE THEM!!

I agree with you, cyclists can be very haughty and uppity and arrogant. I would bark in their face the next time Lucinda.

I would have told them " excuse me! Maybe I should walk in your bike lanes" and point to them.... LOL. I can be a bytch when I need to be.

I do point out the bike lanes to them. They disregard it.

I fully agree, I get mad when cyclists invade the sidewalks. Some speed like crazy and it is dangerous to walk.

Oh boy, that is so true. Even here. Cyclists and motorcycle riders use pedestrian lane for their own good.

We have NO bike lanes here.. though we do have a bike path that goes from one town, to the 15th town that makes up where we live. That guy definitely shouldn't have been on the sidewalk. Ugh.

I guess now the city must spend more money putting up "Bike Lane" signs for those cyclists who can read.

I totally agree, when bike lanes are provided, that is where bikers belong.

yes, there should be a separate lane for pedestrians and bikers. accidents do happen between bikers/motorists and truck and 4-wheel car drivers.
