She asked me to help her with the laundry and then finally let me do all the laundry myself and put herself to sleep.

This is all because she was not able to sleep last night. The problem with the bank not encoding the total amount she deposited in her passbook made her anxious. She was frustrated and worried that she lost a big amount. She told me she was getting old and it is difficult for her to understand everything being said to her. That is the reason she asks me or my older sister to go with her whenever she needs to do something important outside. This morning, we ended up all her worries. We went to the bank in the morning and told the teller the problem. Then, they told us that there was a discrepancy on the amount of money they have in the bank. They decided not to send a text message to clients who deposited money to them yesterday for safety purposes. They just thought that whoever found out a problem with their deposits will just return to the bank the next day. The teller finally apologized on what happened and we went back home happy and satisfied because the problem was solved finally. And yes, I did all the laundry because mom was so sleepy. But it is okay with me, as long as my mother feels okay then I am okay too.

@annierose :Lung cancer pervades us all. It's top killer, I think. The world tally includes an aunt and my own beloved mother. You are a good daughter and don't ever think otherwise. There are good days and not so good days. Life gets the better of us sometimes. But always and will be, you are a good daughter. My daughters and I have verbal jousts also.

if you had a landline, they should have called you about it. i would do that same, go back first thing in the morning, then let her catch up on sleep. it's good that one of you goes with her on important appointments.

@hereandthere The last time she went to the Social Security System alone, she got really frustrated. There was a form given to her and she does not know how to answer it. She told me she asked help from many people on what to write on the form. I pity my mom when she was telling that to me and I know that we should no longer allow her to be alone when doing important business outside.

@annierose When a weight like that is taken off your mind everything else seems trivial. I would be happy also that she does not have to worry so now.

Maybe your mum is so tired. You're sweet to do that for your mom. It's our duty to look after mom when she is old.

@caopaopao I think Chinese people are taught on how to live by themselves. I have a classmate before who studies in the Philippines. She is a Chinese and she was my classmate when I was taking up my Masters Degree. I also have another Chinese friend who live on her own even he was still young that time.

@annierose Yeah sometimes they need our company so much. I don't live with my parents, either. I hope my parents can live together with me when they are old.

If there were some discrepancies, the bank should be able to determine which account was that. My goodness they will put anxieties and worries to their clients. But it was nice of you to help your mom in the laundry

@rakski Based from our discussions with the bank teller yesterday, it seems they do not know whose account got a discrepancy. Actually, I was wondering why the bank teller who counted our money did not realize that the amount of money he recorded in our passbook and the amount he counted did not tally. Or maybe it was just because there were a lot of people that time in the bank and he got confused?

@annierose there should not be confusion. There should be no room for error on their side. right? If they always do that, what will happen?

@JudyEv Yes, she was. That money actually is from my salary. She saved my money and she wants me to use it for investment. She always think about us before herself.
