Work, work, work, work. No, I'm not quoting Mel Brooks' governor role in Blazing Saddles, but that's what I've been doing. I'm amazed at how much time I haven't been spending online (not just here) the past couple of weeks. Today's golf day, so that won't improve any today. But I will pause long enough to give you another song on my list of favorites with long -- at least seven words -- titles. Here's a no-brainer. #4: Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me - Elton John Between this, "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy," "Club At the End of the Street," "I Feel Like a Bullet (in the Gun of Robert Ford)," and others, it's impossible to ignore Sir Elton for this list. (He had a song that qualifies for the short title list -- "Ego" -- but that's a piece of crap. And I say that as a 40-plus-year Elton John fan.) And what an enduring song this is! In the live video linked below he said the song "didn't do too well over here" (England), but it's hard to think of this song now as anything but a classic. With some of Bernie Taupin's best lyrics ("I can't light no more of your darkness, all my pictures seem to fade to black and white"), Elton starts with a soft, reflective tone and ends the song begging for mercy vocally. It's a powerhouse delivery. And it's one of EJ's greatest hits. Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me Written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin Recorded by Elton John From Caribou, 1974 Frozen here on the ladder of my life:
As an early Christmas present I thought I'd upload the 1974 Christmas show with Video! This one's dedicated to Formulaonemad who's a real good friend, and gr...

Great song! And the tune reflects a Beach Boys influence. The track contains contributions from members of the group; Carl Wilson and Bruce Johnston both sang backup.

Lots of great guests on that album, including the legendary Dusty Springfield singing back-up on “The B*tch Is Back.”

Don't know this guy. You never play anything from Reginald Kenneth Dwight.

Found this song in a thrift store. Nobody else knows it, or him.

@FourWalls - I've heard of him, but thought he was Dr. John.

"I didn't get a harrumph from that man!" "Give the Governor a harrumph!" Can't pass up the chance to get in a Blazing Saddles quote! One of my favorites by Sir Elton.

“They said you was hung!” I think I told you about the night Robbie, Scott from NRBQ, and I got into a Blazing Saddles quoting party.....
