I Wish I Could Have Enjoyed My Teens More

There was a lot of fun years that I missed out on because I was suffering in numerous ways. When I play songs from the time when I should have been enjoying life, I was just trying not to die. At 13 I was struggling with the reality of chaos and its finer mechanisms, as well as the various death dreams that latched on because of growing, and that continued through 15. In there I lost use of one of my fingers (at 14, I think) from a severed tendon. I wrecked my knee and would need surgery on it later on when I was 16. I got into my accident before I was 17, and suffered migraines and living difficulties through my early 20s. Yep, my teens were devoured by injuries and suffering. It would have been nice to have had fun during them!

Oh. I am sorry to hear that, Master Morgan. You have suffered enough.

Thanks. I was listening to depressing songs partly, and that was dragging me down a little (and memories from the songs of when I heard them the first time was bad for me physically). I was thinking this morning that I can't go back in time... but I could write a story where I go back in time and make the changes in my life that way. A restructuring story that I could change what I wanted and possibly have others interested. In a way, if you can't change your existing life, you can use the past to create a virtual future!

@aureliah And in creating that virtual future, we can gain a sense of accomplishment from it. Once I created an alternate history of Earth starting from the crusades, and it ended up being a vastly different world to now. I tend to use that world and the politics I developed to influence this one. There was an entire society that was built on bartering, and it became a money-less empire (except for trading internationally). It became a system of merit, and there was no such thing as debt.... however, if you hit 0 merit, you had to serve prison time until you worked your way back up.

@OneOfMany That is very true. I love the way that you think. We cannot turn back the hands of time but we can surely create a virtual future

@marguicha Well, I tend to want to be heard when I have something to say. It's easy to bait me.

I said I was a survivor, and people asked me how... and then I survived my wreck and they stopped asking... Not that I wanted to have that.

It's been a strange life. That's why I'm working on my autobiography so people can not believe it when they read it! lol It's going to be a supernatural story... otherwise, people would lose interest.

@Debscrochet Thank you. Hopefully I can get my body under control enough to concentrate on it.

Wait, were the teen years supposed to be fun and enjoyable? I didn't know. I guess that's very subjective.

@OneOfMany My hormones settled out last year, if they did. I thought the teens only went from 13 to 19, though I'm probably still a teen, as I still see nothing exciting in such stage of life. I think there's an age we perform the best, and hopefully it wasn't the 13-19+ in your case.

@sabtraversa Well, 18-19 during college, is supposed to be fun for freshmen and sophomores. But it didn't really seem that way to me! Well, 24-27 was a really productive time for me. It was also the least violent of my life threatening events. Several minutes of fear, and then the problem was done. Statistically, that allergic reaction kills 100% of the people who suffer it, so I definitely managed to beat the odds in that case! lol It's a mold that can be found in expired pancake and biscuit mixes. I didn't know that such a thing was in something a little over a week past the date... For everything else, that date can be ignored, but not for pancake and biscuit mixes, I guess! Of course, I only got out of it because I pulled my stomach acid into my throat, and burned the allergen out. It was very painful and raw for a while after.

I was mainly talking about the latter teen years, when the hormones have settled out, but the entry made certain that that was never going to happen.

Did you get past them though? My migraines lasted from 17 through 31, before I started figuring them out better. Now my headaches are really mild, almost to the point of what would have made me cry in the past (because it's far better than my best day during college). I learned that dehydration played a big part. And vitamin B (super complex) or just B-12. For some reason, they help out a lot. My doctor really didn't explain why they do, just that I should take them.

I don't have many fond memories of teenagehood, but for different reasons. You seem to have had more than your fair share of suffering. ;)
