Do/did you worry when your kids have/had a school trip?

Today my both kids have a school trip. When we got to school this morning there were already two buses to take them to visit an old castle two hours driving from the school. I remember when I was at school and how happy and excited I was but now, as a mother, I always feel worried and all kinds of disaster cross my mind. I gave them some recommendations and tried not to sound too worried but inside I was nervous. Visit new and interesting places is great, they were really happy this morning, and at the same time, I had a mix of feelings because I was also happy for seeing their happiness. They have their lunch with them and probably I will phone 2-3 times during the day just to check if everything is ok. Do/did you worry when your kids have/had a school trip?

It's common with all parents my dear friend..don't worry they will enjoy the trip safely :)..my parents didn't allow me to go anywhere in childhood..it's the care they give I know..but I missed the few things now in childhood..but later I enjoyed college trips ..but childhood trips I missed..glad you allowed your kids..

It's normal to worry and to me shows you are a caring mom. I always went as a chaperone on the field trips so I didn't worry about them as you have had to. Field trips were so much fun for my friends and I as a kid. My kids have enjoyed most of them as well. I hope your children have an awesome time. I would love touring an old castle.

I am the worst worrier when it comes to school trips. I worried about my own children and now about my granddaughter. When she was 7 she went to Disneyland, Paris with the Brownies for 4 days and I cried the whole time she was away! We were not allowed to contact them either. I'm just as bad on day trips too. I always think the coach will crash or she will get lost or left behind.

@nela13 I think it's because some of them get upset if they talk to their parents and want to come home. I'm sure that many parents worry about the same things as we do.

It's natural, almost all the parents will worry about their children when they are on a school trip, especially when the trip is the first one for child. I still remembered my daughter's first school trip four years ago, I was so worried, I couldn't sleep well and eat well. But apparently my daughter had a very good time there.

I always volunteered as a chaperone for all of my children's school trips, so I got to go with them every time! Why should they have all the fun? I enjoyed those school trips as much as they did! haha

@nela13 I always have such a fun time on those trips! My children are in high school now, so they don't go on field trips as much anymore, so I really miss that time I used to spend with them.

I didn't worry about the children, I went on trips with school bus drivers and I know things have changed since then but when my kids were going I was grateful they had the chance. I have always been an optimist.
