Why, That's Radiculous!

Radicular pain. That's the diagnosis from the gastroenterologist. I started with him for two reasons: one, I have a GERD/diverticulosis history; and two (and far more significantly), my maternal grandfather and uncle had colon cancer. He's a longtime caregiver of mine. He's seen the insides of my colon several times. But this time, he says the that pain in my side that radiates all over the lower quadrant may be more related to pinched nerves in my back, radiating out to other nearby parts of the body (known as radicular pain). While that does sound painful (and downright radiculous! ), that certainly beats anything he could have said. So he gave me a FODMAP diet (apparently I'm supposed to find maps of the nation Fod and eat them ) and physical therapy. One of the two -- or maybe both -- will hopefully help. Here's my favorite "pain" song (sorry, Police fans, I'm not the queen of pain):
From his 1974 album Slow Dancer.

I've never heard of a FODMAP diet. I hope it helps.

It’s an acronym that’s best left untranslated. The gist of the diet is to reduce or eliminate short-chain carbs and sugars.
