A wrong address in his phone got this trucker lost

Oregon is nowhere near as big as Texas, but over on the eastern side of the state, cell phone coverage is spotty at best in some areas. So the trucker with a load of potato chips put a wrong delivery address in his phone and ended up making a wrong turn, getting the truck stuck on a steep embankment and having to walk back the way he came starting at midnight. He was on his way to a town near the Idaho border, but that bad address led him astray and he wandered night and day for four days, sometimes in snow with temperatures in the 30s at night. His employer said he walked some 36 miles, but State Police figure it was only about 14 miles. He caught a ride near his home and was dropped off while his wife was out searching. Now he is safely in the hospital for a few days, suffering from exposure, I suppose. With my lousy sense of direction, I would still be wandering. I wonder if the potato chips got frozen?

I could understand getting lost with directions, but wandering for several days without finding any help whatsoever? That seems strange to me.

He was in a pretty remote area in eastern Oregon, but four days is strange.

@JamesHxstatic Why wouldn't he have just followed the road back the way he came?

@JamesHxstatic That poor guy. I am so glad someone found him and that he could get better in the hospital.

I wonder if he brought some with him, so he could snack while he hiked.

No, he said he would not touch the merchandise he was carrying.

If he stuck to the road you'd think someone would have come along in four days. He was lucky not to have perished.

That is honestly terrifying. Being in a big rig before because my great uncle used to be a truck driver, it is so easy to get lost.

That would be a scary thing on a cold night for sure.

I have bad sense of direction too that is why I hate to drive. Glad to hear he is safe, if that happened here, all the potato chips would be gone when you come back for the truck.

That area is sparsely populated so the chips were probably left alone.

that's my concern too, then there will be a potato chip shortage. *good to know that he is okay now.

Chips may be hard to find along the Idaho border.

I am sure it has been a scary experience. Even with a good sense of direction when you are lost you are lost.

Four days ? I am sure he is quite fed up with potato chips. I am guessing that would be the only thing available to eat.

Not sure if he took any with him. That was a long time to cover 14 miles.
