While I was driving down to Westbrook for my get-together with my cousin Chris I got a call from my niece, my sister died last night. I am gutted as you can imagine.
She was 89 years old and was in the very early stages of Alzheimer's disease. We are not close as sisters since she is 22 years older than I am but she was always close, like an aunt. My nieces and nephews are like cousins.
I visited her last in December before I left for Florida. I have been in contact with my niece for updates. Her death came as quite a shock. Please keep our family in your prayers or if you are not the praying kind then your thoughts.

Thanks Andria, it just feels so strange to have her gone, she was the last of my father's first family and I am the eldest of his second family.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I don't have any siblings but I am sure it is a sad loss. My thoughts are with you.

Thank you so much, my sister was a wonderful loving person but not a religious one. I need to ask my niece if they even gave her the sacrament of the sick, I certainly hope so.

Thank you Dianne, I so appreciate it. The good news is, we are mostly Irish and we do a lot of laughing at our wakes and I expect it will be a very family affair with lots of memories and humor.

@DianneN We met last night for pizza at Melillis in Portland with my two of my nephews, one wife, my niece and my brother. We talked for 2.5 hours, laughed and reminisced. It was a wonderful time and we remembered all the good times. My brother has now taken off to go back to Atlanta and life goes on. I can use prayers again, my daughter's father in law is in the ICu and all of his systems are out of whack. His name is Len. Thanks my prayer friend.

My sister lived in the same town as me so I didn't have to go anywhere to attend the service for her, it was nearby.

@mlgen1037 I am doing well, in the meantime my mother who is 102 is not doing well and my daughters father in law is in the hospital, I don't have time to think too much about the passing of my sister, later I will have time to grieve.
