For the last two days I have forgotten to buy salt. I have ended cooking foods without and I find them tasteless. Do you eat food without salt and what do you substitute with?

I use very little salt. If you are accustomed to using salt it takes a few meals to adjust. Once you eliminate salt from many foods you learn to appreciate their flavour. Many foods are so salty..all I taste is salt.

@aureliah using onions, garlic and other herbs will enhance flavours without increasing the sodium.

@kepweng To do what??? A pinch of salt is a very little quantity. How much salt you need depends on what you are cooking.

I love salty food. I don't cook though so I don't know how much salt is being used in the food I eat.

@aureliah salt or sodium chloride gives us some electrolytes in our body so it is best to just regulate our intake.

I have always found that good alternatives are herbs like cilantro, oregano, Italian seasoning etc. These won't taste like salt, but done right, you can add enough flavor you won't miss the salt. I have to go back to this more since the doc put me on a salt restriction.

If you are on a salt restriction then you know better. I wonder why we always have to miss some salt

Food can taste very bland without salt. I guess you can use other spices but I wouldn't like to recommend anything special.

I cannot have my food without salt. If we put adequate amount of salt in our food, then only it will be tasty. We should not have too much of salt, but can have adequate amount of salt. Any dish without salt won't be tasty at all. Even people with high blood pressure will have little salt, then only it will taste good.

I agree that food without salt is tasteless. Perhaps you can try the soy sauce if you don't have the salt.
