Off to teach my evening class. Or will I just pass out and let them read Mark Twain?

Today (Tuesday) is my most "grind it out" day of the week. I get up at 5:45 AM to teach at the preschool in Berkeley, and then have to teach a 7 PM to 10 PM Intro to Psychology class at the College. Students usually talk to me after class, so will have been going for about 17 hours by the time I make it home. Wish me luck this evening! I'm presenting stuff I enjoy, so it should go well. But I'm sure I'll stumble over words a few times, due to fatigue. How do you feel about long work days? I admit that I couldn't do this every day.

Good luck, that makes for a long day, I used to work close to those hours every day when I worked at the casino's, don't miss them at all.

I'm too old and tired to do this kind of thing every day!

@cintol I think, overall, I've struck a good balance now that I left my afternoon job with the "troubled kids." But some days are still a grind, especially when a you add music into the equation.

I feel drained when I work for long hours and days. Now I work at home, which at least lessens the stress and the fatigue.

I'd miss the social interaction if I worked ONLY at home. But I sure was pooped by the time tonight's class ended.

@mlgen1037 Ah, that sounds social enough. It was a three hour class. It went pretty well, but we were all pooped by the end.

@TheHorse Yeah, that would be the downside if working at home. But it is fine since I get to go out with my students and friends. For sure. How many hours is your class for tonight?

Well I wish you luck and hope you made it thru. I hated working all day then having to go sit in my night class from 6-10. So glad I don't have that anymore.

It happened many times that I had very long working days when I was actively working with my husband. I never appreciated meetings late in the evening.

@TheHorse We had unpredictable hours when we worked. Sometimes we went to sleep at 2 am and had to get up at 5 am. Being young helped.

I'd like to have my evenings to read, play guitar, and listen to music.

@TheHorse I do not know how you do it and then have time for your band. Where do you get all that energy? I am not feeling well right now but had lots of work to get done and have not been getting the proper rest I need. I have a little bit left to do now.

Most of my long work days are usually a surprise. But that's retail life. Yesterday I got to work at 445, and didn't leave till 2 pm, then we went to lunch. I got home about 330, and did stuff around the house until 930. I'm tired today lol.

I wind up working late at the preschool a lot, but I don't mind that, as I'm just playing with kids. I had a music gig last night after work but it didn't drain me.

We actually do a lot of talking at break. So I never stay the full hour after class.

Can you catch a nap in the middle of the day? If you don't, it sounds like you might be having it in the evening if you're not careful.

I used to work 12 hour shifts five days a week as a security guard. My shift began at 7pm and went all night until 7am. It got lonely as I was the only person there. Sometimes it got spooky because the place I was monitoring was a television studio set for a children's show. There were huge human shaped marionettes around every corner of the studio that made me "jump" every time I saw them. It also didn't help that it was in a warehouse in the middle of nowhere and I had to deal with deer, moose and other wild animals peeking through the windows.

Heh. I'd rather critters than human ruffians.
