The groom wore a nice suit in black and white and the bride, well the bride wore a white phone case. Yes, phone case. A Man marries smartphone. So apparently a man has married his smartphone in a Las Vegas chapel. And people thought I was crazy for wanting to marry myself. When interviewed, the groom - Aaron Chervenak, said that his wedding was to illustrate how important our smartphones are becoming to us. As long as we are on this topic, I thought it would be a great time to talk about one of my favorite movies, 2013's "Her" starring Joaquin Phoenix. In the movie, which is set in the near future, Joaquin stars as the male version of me. Tender hearted, introverted, and totally and completely overlooked by members of the opposite gender. Joaquin decides to upgrade his computer operating system with the newest and best - OS1. After answering some quasi-personal questions, his new software is installed. His new operating system names herself "Samantha" and as the movie wears on, Samantha becomes more and more self aware. The two have a really great relationship. And eventually - become a couple. But Samantha keeps growing and learning... and Joaquin is unsure how to with a girlfriend who isn't human, but is all too human at the same time. I watch this whenever I feel particularly disappointed by men. So that means often. lol. I highly recommend it. The movie, that is. Not marrying your phone. I know, I wondered that too - is he allowed to get a different phone now? And does the phone get jealous if he spends time with his computer, or tablet lol?

It won't be long before robots become so real and human-like that people start marrying them. It's just a matter of time.

I'm with you. I think Best Buy had a funny commercial with a "Mandroid" in it. I know there are , *ahem* companion dolls , that look like hyper real mannequins. I wouldn't be surprised at all

I am not really surprised as in India people are getting married to dogs! Though the topic may fetch much attention as it has happened in one of the most developed country, in our country also we have many such silly things happening on day today basis! Thanks @FayeHazel!

How was it possible to marry a cell phone? Both parties have to say "I do" plus a lot of other words. Unless he made voice recordings and them back in the right order during the ceremony. I guess marrying yourself is easier because you can say "I do" Twice lol I've not seen Her, but think Joaquin Phoenix is a great actor. Walk the Line is one of my favourite movies along with Gladiator. He is excellent in both. I will have to watch it and imagine you in the role. Should be interesting.

@FayeHazel You simply must see Gladiator. It's a great movie. As good as Joaquin is, Russell Crowe is fantastic as Maximus.

I know, I was a bit skeptical of that too. Wouldn't the phone need to say something? Though it was done at a Vegas chapel, so maybe isn't legally binding, or something. Oh yeah Joaquin is an awesome actor. I didn't see "Gladiator" yet. Oh yeah, he is pretty much me in that movie. lol.

I think it's great that you want to marry yourself but...Um, a friend, wanted me to say that he hopes you're open to a poly sort of relationship. Not for another marriage, there's no need to go Mormon but you know, just something on the side for when you get bored or angry with your partner and feel like you just really want and/or need to cheat on yourself. I know it's scary but trust me, even if you find out about the cheating, all you have to do is buy yourself some flowers and candy and everything will be smoothed over. You'll totally forgive yourself. Or maybe, your partner might even like that sort of thing. Threesomes are fun...I'm told, I wouldn't know. Think about it, you, you and someone else! About marrying cell phones and computer software...um, my friend says the same thing. If you marry your phone or your operating system or even both and/or yourself, the same observations stand!

Lol! Oh true. I mean not to brag but I'm a pretty ideal partner for my own self. I'm always available when I need company, and I can also give myself space when I need it, and uh, we always want to go to the same places and do the same things together lol yeah. I think we'd be open to a third in me and myself's relationship though. I just asked and myself said that it could be fun and exciting. lol

Okay, the cellphone marriage was a little over the top. It won't take long before he upgrades to a newer model. The trailer was a bit weird too. Sorry, didn't mean to offend, but marrying a cell phone and having an operating system as a girlfriend is a bit too much.

@FayeHazel That was some story about the man marrying his cell phone. Once you said it happened in Las Vegas did not surprise me. Now, you are sharing with us Faye about a movie where Joaquin Phoenix falls in love with his operating system. What is this world coming to with men marrying their cell phones and in love with operating systems.

So true that Vegas seems like the right place for this to happen. It would seem that with that story we are already living in the movie "Her". As though there were not enough single women out there

I am sure the white case was lovely and was a wonderful accept to the brides keypad. I really liked that movie (Her), of course he was jilted in the end. Which just goes to show you even non-human relationships can suffer growing pains, lol.
