I am a Pagan and I practice witchcraft on a daily basis. I always have candles lit all over my home. When I have it I am burning incense,(which reminds me I need more;) I am courious to know what scares youthe most and maybe myself or the other's here in mylot who also practice witchcraft can help you understand and over come your fear.

Are you so shure about that? I look at one in the mirror every day. I cast spells, and participate in rituels. I am a Wiccan/Pagan witch and I am very proud of it. So why do you say there is no such thing as witches?

What scares me the most is that some witches or warlock use their knowledge against innocent people sometime in order to fulfill their wishes or to gain extra power or just for some money but I m not afraid of them coz I believe firmly in god and his powers which is uncomparable.......

I can understand where you are coming from there. Most witches follow 1 simple rule "An ye harme NONE, do what ye will" Which basically means as long as no one gets hurt do what you want. Myself and may others here on mylot and others I have met all follow that same rule.

Just so ppl arent confused and it is understood - Harm None - is a Wiccan thing, it comes from the Wiccan Rede and depending on who you ask it was written in very early 1900s OR sometime in the 1940-50s and I would have to say in my experience only some 'Witches' follow that principal to the extent of the Rede however all Wiccans that I know do follow it...myself and the other Witches in my family dont but we are old school...Thats not to say however that we dont try to avoid harm of course because we do and it IS very important to us but we also knwo that sometimes ppl come into our lives and mess with our family and home in major ways and that is flat out unacceptable so we do whats needed to take care of it..

I think there are a lot of misconceptions and movies and the media dont help. But i think for the most part people are afraid of the unknown!

I don't witches or wiccan I just feel you are dabbling in things that are very dangerous. I, too, am an empath but I didn't need either to learn to live with it.

I am not scared of it at all. As a matter of fact, I am interested in learning more. My boyfriend has been studying Wicca for awhile now. I actually thought about posting tonight to see if any Wiccans could give me some good websites to teach me more.

There is a book you should get your hands on. I reccomend it to every one who want to learn about it. It is called Bucklands Complete Book of Witchcraft. It is a wonderfull book. The best thing I can say is get as many books on it as you can and read, read, read. Like the saying goes "knowledge is power" I am still learning it myself, but I am loving the journey.

Wicca Spellcraft for Men by A.J. Drew - Wicca Spellcraft for Men by A.J. Drew
I also have a book that you could read and it breaks down Wicca in simple terms and understanding. It was titled to encourage men to read, but trust me, it is a wonderful book for both man and woman. It called Wicca Spellcraft for Men by A.J. Drew I have read this book from front to back and recommend it to anyone that even just wants a better understanding to Wicca.

I'd have to say that only the people who do not know how to respect the craft and use it wrongly scare me and use it for their own monetary gain which by the way is morally and ethically and magically wrong that scares me too. It is the oldest most wonderful religion on earth. I respect and practice it wisely.

I worry about others who practice and what they do and do not know. I have been around too many people who cannot control what they try to do and someone else has to gain control of the situation. I have also known people who can summon things accidentally (it is tied to their emotions) and that scares me more than anything I have ever been through.

I can understand your fear. The thing is some people dont realise that they are so powerfull, and if they do know they dont know how to controll it nor do they know where to look toget help with controlling it. I am a clairvoyant, I can see things before they happen. I have learned to controll it and let it happen when I want to through meditation. Recently that gift evolved and I am also an Empath, I can feel other peoples feelings. I have learned to controll that too, through meditation. It was hard work but very much worth it.

That is the thing. I would like to be able to kill the superstition and let people know that we are fun, loving people just like you who just want to live in harmony. What i am coming across so far are personal experiences that maybe mysself or anyother here can let that person know that there may be an explaination and help them understand it so that they are not afraid of it.

This is going to sound kind of stupid. I am Wiccan and the things that scare me are when a spell I do works or comes true. I did a spell one time to help my parents house and the next day people wanted to buy it. I was in shock!

This does not sound stupid AT ALL! I feel the exact same way. The thing that scares me the most is the fact that working with energy, casting spells, working with Dieties, etc. actually works. I've experienced it, and it still freaks me out. I used to call myself a Chicken Wiccan because I was afraid of actually doing ritual! So you are definitely not alone in your fears. BB, ~Wyrdsister

Praise God that the power of the blood of Christ has always been more powerful than the powers of hell and always will be. The devil is already defeated and Christ is victorious.

What does this have to do with my question? Which by the way witches are not evil. I believe in the same god you do, I just worship him in a diffrent way. I also believe there is a goddess, the same way there is male and female here on earth, there is possibly one in heaven and thus we worship her.

"I believe in the same god you do, I just worship him in a diffrent way." nicely put...and if some ppl would just open their minds they'd realize that

What scares me the most is when you practice magic and have no clue on what you're getting yourself into. I had a roommate in college who did many rituals but she truly was not educated on the pros and cons. We had some weird things happen in the house and we finally had to move out.
@magikrose (5429)

I can understand that. And you are right there is a right way and a wrong way to conduct a rituel. You have to know how to call the corners in perfect love and perfect trust and only have good intentions in mind when casting the spell. It can be tricky. That is why currently untill I am more educated I will not create my own rituels or spells, I will copy someone elses and perform it that way I know it was done right. And I will only do that with those I trust.

Also, with the education of ritual and the comprehension of how rituals should be performed, you also know how to close them. Most often, those who dabble in rituals do not have the education and respect for the Gods/Elements/Corners. Furthermore, if you do not close a circle correctly, you are open to more elements that were not welcomed into your home. This is probably what happened. If you want to learn more on the religion, I encourage you to learn. But do not act on what you read until you have a full comprehension and respect for the energies around you.

I'm not really afraid of witchcraft. It does interest me a little because of the fact that you have a high priest AND a priestess. Male and female.

You are right. It is not just one or the other it is both because in the real world we have both male and female.

wicca - the nature practice that is often feared and not tolerated..when actually the proper do no harm!
Those that would misuse it. there seems to be a few in every crowd. Ignorance that would lead to intolerance. those would be the things that would concern me. My incense is getting low too and my love of candles is only eclipsed by the incense. Ebay can be a good source for both.

Honestly, none of it scares me in the slightest whether I'm doin spellwork to bind or bless/bring it to me or send it away/protect myself or teach someone a lesson etc...whether I'm outside doing my thing by the light of the bonfire during a full moon or in my living room doing spreads...whether I'm trying something new or blending somethign new to my path...whether I have "visitors" (very common in my life since I was a child) or am sending messages etc etc etc..All of it comes naturally to me the past few yrs..though in the very beginning I had some nervewrecking experiences but that wasnt from 'doing' anything other than opening myself up to somehting thta finally had a name for me for the first time in my life...Its strange really come to think of it..once it had a name it completely changed my perspective and reactions etc to pretty much everything and anything and it didnt take much for me to open up and start fine tuning that part of myself if that makes sense....

My biggest fear in praticing magic is taking away something from someone else who might need it more than me. I don't want to negativly effect - even though it would be by accident - someone elses life. But I guess that's a good thing. With great power comes great responsibility.
