Sad day

Just after Christmas 2007 a friend on myLot announced that she had a visitor. A kitten had invited himself into her place. However, her landlord didn't permit pets so she was going to take him to Walmart and find him a home. I panicked. I mean, the worst place you can go is to a big box store and give away a kitten or puppy. I looked her up, discovered she lived in San Antonio, which is an hour south of where I live. I messaged her and asked if she could hold on to him one more day and I'd come and get him. So, I think it was New Years Day, my now wife and I drove down and picked him up. Because we got him in San Antonio, we named him Tony. If he had turned out to be a "she" it would've still been Toni - but with an "i." This last week he's been sick, and while we've been treating him, he just wasn't getting better. Today he went to the Bridge. Tony was a very special, very sweet boy. He was only 10 and a half, but he really never has been the healthiest cat I've ever owned. Still, a sweet boy that purred when you pet him, that would walk away from an confrontation rather than fight, a just all around nice cat. He will be a very missed part of the house hold. The picture is from back when he was young and healthy. Fly free, sweet Tony, give our love to those we've lost already.

So sorry for your loss. I am glad you were able to give him a good home in the years you had him. It is always difficult to lose our fur babies.

Its just sad that we lost him so young, well, relatively young anyway. Yes, this is the 1st cat we've lost in 5 months, but we have 5 older cats who are still doing well.

@ElicBxn I hope they stay well for a long time. I have two cats and it makes me sad to think of losing them.

What a beautiful cat. At least you gave him a good home while you had him.

Thanks @jstory07 - its been a long day having to keep checking on him, and then knowing he wasn't going to make it.

Losing a pet is not easy to handle. All pet lovers know what it is, including me. Are you getting another kitten?

No. We hadn't planned on getting Opal. But since we got her, and she was so much younger than the next youngest cat (about 5 years) we got her a playmate about her age. We really don't want another cat until we are below 10 cats, preferably below 5

Sad news. But I'm glad you gave her...um, him...a good life.

I have tears running down my cheeks, it is so hard losing a family member like that! Thank you so much for giving my namesake a wonderful home!!! Especially when it meant an hour's travel to do so!!!! I so miss all my furry babies that went across the Bridge, and it is nice to know that they are there to greet Tony and show him around the haven. I'm still mourning the loss of my furry babies, I think I would have fared better if I had been with them to say good bye...but that wasn't possible. The firemen held me back.

I'm sure your laid back babies will love Tony, he was such an easy going boy. I suspect that Emily, the tabby feral girl might be the only one who will miss him, she used to get up next to him and try and get his attention.

I just wish we could've had him for several more years.
