Little Miss Won a Trophy!

Yesterday we took Little Miss to her first fishing derby. It as a bit on the chilly side, but we dressed warmly. The sun was trying its best to come out. We found a good spot at the pond to fish. Hubby forgot the folding chairs so we had to stand the entire time. He and Little Miss sat on the cement wall, but it was too low for me to sit on. I would have not been able to get up without help. Dang arthritic knees! The derby was just for kids and there was a wide range of kids there. Little Miss was delighted to be able to fish. The adults could cast the line for them and help them reel in the fish. Little Miss helped to reel in her first fish. She didn't want to touch it though. LOL. They brought it up to the measuring table and headed back to the pond where I waited. The second fish was 11 inches long. She was quite proud of the fish even though it was a bit bloody from getting the hook out of its mouth. She caught 5 fish in all, which is the limit. We put 2 small ones back in the water and kept the other 3 to bring home. Little Miss and I went back to the truck and hubby drove us down to the store that was nearby. Had to make a potty run! There were no porta pottys at the event. When we got back, hubby went to check and see if Little Miss had qualified for a trophy. Glad we waited around! She got her picture taken with her trophy. She won for the girl with the biggest fish! How proud she was and we were too.

How awesome that Little Miss won a trophy! I'm sure she must have been extremely proud of that! Was that her first trophy she ever won? I still have the first trophy I ever won! It was in T-Ball, and our team came in second place in the division. Even though it was only a second place trophy, that thing meant more to me than any other trophy I have received since!

Yes, it was her first trophy! When she is old enough we are going to enroll her in T-ball too. She loves to be outdoors and enjoys sports.

@moffittjc we spend a lot of time outside. She is allowed to use her tablet (not something I bought for her) a few times a month. She also has a DVD player that we allow her to use to watch her Paw Patrol show a couple times a week. I would rather her be outside playing and enjoying the fresh air.

We are going to take her again next year. Hopefully her fear of holding the fish will go away by then.

She was so tickled to get the trophy. There were bubble wands there as well. She did have her eye on those. But, when she realized she got a trophy, she was delighted and forgot about them.

We took her fishing last year, when she was 2 years old. She caught a fish on her Paw Patrol fishing pole. Every time I mention going fishing she jumps up and down with delight.

Sorry hubby forgot the chairs, and that their was no porta potties.. you'd think an event like that would have at least two of them around.. maybe it's something you can mention to them for next year / time? But am so happy for little miss! And she looked so cute in the photos I saw!

I think because the event was only for a few hours they didn't find the need for a porta potty. Thankfully the store was close enough for us to drive to. We could have walked, but I doubt that Little Miss would have been able to hold it without waddling. LOL.

@ElusiveButterfly still, they should have one or two. Especially with it being a kids event.
