Thunder in the darkness

That title sounds like a used paperback novel, but thunder did wake us up this morning, perhaps around 4 AM. It rattled on for maybe a half hour, then we did end up getting a nice rain shower, though none was predicted for at least two weeks. It was a welcome bit or rain, since we planted flowers and some herbs and vegetables yesterday. Thunder is quite unusual here, so it is not surprising that it woke us, though we both got back to sleep soon. I did not get up to see the lightning. Do you hear thunder often?

Yes I hear it quite often. We get quite a few tropical storms in my area and they usually bring the lightning and thunder.

I am glad we don't get a lot of those storms. Lightning causes many fires in our forested areas.

@JamesHxstatic Yes I know. I used to live British Columbia and its pretty much the same there. Especially in the desert areas.

We do seem to have a lot of electrical storms here in NZ. Usually in the spring, but it's autumn now and we had several days of them a few weeks back.

I liked 'used paperback novel'. It even sounds like a 'new' paperback novel! We get thunder occasionally. I love the thunder but I easily forego the lightning that comes with it.

Thanks, @JudyEv, Yes, lightning can be a bit scary in dry areas.

We gear thunder often, especially during summer. We had thunder and lightning the last night.

@JamesHxstatic I like to hear the thunders during the night. I do not like when the storms bring hail.

@JamesHxstatic Perfect timing. I'd gotten the front yard mowed, the hens fed and eggs gathered and oh! I could tell a storm was about to enter the scene. I called all the animals to get into shelter.

When I was growing up in the Midwest I did. Here in California it's pretty rare.

I do enjoy a good thunderstorm, but last year we only had one. It's just as well, since Doodles is terrified of it.

We are having lots of it here on my Caribbean island. Started from midday , accompanied by heavy showers. So it is an early night for me.
