I am making a tofu stirfry tonight. I am vegetarian maybe one or two days a week, and I get in the mood for tofu maybe once a year. IF you cook with tofu, what is your favorite thing to make? Share a recipe if you would like. I would be interesting in finding out what you like.

@rakski I used to not like it, until I learned how to cook it.

@snowy22315 , Oh I see, we get soyabean milk in India, but never heard of the curd! Can we use the same culture as we make curd from milk? Thanks!

It is soybean curd, and a protein source. It is most often found in Asian cooking.

@AKRao24 I have no idea, I am not an expert lol..but I would think they might sell it in the big cities or those that have an Asian influence.

It is very good in a stirfry in my opinion. It is very high in protein.

We don't cook with tofu but once in a restaurant Vince had a beef dish in a Chinese restaurant and another friend had duck but both turned out to be tofu. Our friend knew the chef who had said whatever they wanted she could make it from tofu. They didn't know it was tofu till she told them afterwards.

It's completely bland and just takes on the flavors of whatever it is cooked with.

The other day I made tofu with bok choy (or maybe it was some other type of choy), mushrooms and onions. And I used Korean BBQ Teriyaki sauce. Came out pretty good.

It sounds good to me! I found the highest rated recipe I could for tofu on the web..it was good..but alot of work..and I didn't even use the food processor it suggested. I have one, but didn't want to clean another dish! lol

It is totally bland and takes on the flavor of whatever you cook it with. I think you would not hate it, if you had it prepared certain ways.

@mlgen1037 Yes, it can be prepared many ways. I don't mind the taste of it, even plain..it just kind of is tasteless by itself.

@snowy22315 Yey. We make a condiment for it too then add onion and chili. Perfect.

Although I don't like tofu very much. Sometimes we make some tofu. My favorite food is stewed tofu. I'll cut the tofu first, about one centimeter thick, three or four centimeters long square. And then I fry these. It's gonna be brown on both sides. Then I took out the tofu. Leave some oil in the oil pan. When the oil is hot, put some pepper, When the pepper is fried, put the tofu in. Then add some water and a little sauce. Put some more salt in the water. Just wait for the water to roll, about two or three minutes. This is the way to cook the stewed tofu.

Oh I have never tried it like that! I prefer it in some kind of Asian dish like with a sauce.

Please don't hate me, but I do not like tofu and do not cook or eat it. I'm a meat-eater through and through! But I hope you find some amazing recipes for your tofu dishes!

There are plenty online! I am convinced that the only reason people don't like tofu is that they have never had it prepared correctly. You can not taste it in a dish, it is just an additional protein source.

Yes I love tofu stir fry. I used to press it dry and roll in flour, sugar and cinnamon mix and fry in butter, I have not done that in a while. I also make a tofu cheesecake that is pretty good. You know it takes on any flavor so just use your imagination.
